VERDICT:
We all know that Xiaomi is loved by fans because of its – never ending – brave attempt of beating more expensive smartphone brands. On the other hand, ASUS eyes to go back on track with the launch of its newest ZenFone 5 series.
Having the Redmi Note 5 and ZenFone 5 face to face, we could easily notice one of its main differences. The ZenFone 5 has a bigger 6.2-inch IPS FHD+ screen, while the Redmi Note 5 comes with a slightly smaller 5.99-inch IPS FHD+ display. While we can just give the score to ASUS, it is important to note that its handset flaunts a screen notch that many users have no plans to deal with. On the other hand, its rival sticks to the 18:9 screen aspect ratio.
It’s the same thing that happened to the camera department. Although both smartphones sport dual rear cameras, the ZenFone 5 boasts a more competitive setup composed of 12-megapixel f/1.8 + 8-megapixel f/2.0 sensors. It also has Tri-tech AF, dual pixel, 120-degree wide-angle, OIS, EIS, and dual tone LED flash. However, the Redmi Note 5 could snatch the prize through its 13-megapixel front camera, as its contender is only equipped with 8-megapixel selfie snapper.
In addition, the Redmi Note 5 would successfully claim the spotlight if we’re just going to look at its big 4000mAh battery compared to ZenFone 5’s 3300mAh juice.
We’re not done yet, guys. Inside, both smartphones pack Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 chip, 64-bit 1.8GHz octa-core Kyro 260 CPU, and Adreno 509 GPU. Moreover, if you’re really after performance, then, the two handsets offer a 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 2TB via MicroSD card.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is coming this May 15 through Lazada for only Php11,990. The ASUS ZenFone 5 is now available for Php19,995, though. And, that is the biggest gap between them, the price, a commanding 8005 pesos difference!
