Globe's 5G Technology Set to Arrive in PH by Q2 2019; Live Speed Test Reaches 2.07Gbps!

This is not a drill! To elevate user’s internet experience, Globe Telecom has announced its plan to officially bring its 5G wireless technology in the Philippines, which is set to deliver higher speeds, lower latency, and better capacity.

During the announcement, the telco giant has revealed that it is set to roll out its first 5G Globe At Home service in Q2 2019. In addition, the company has teamed up with Huawei Technologies to bring this technology in the country sooner than expected.

“We have been preparing our network for some time now with our existing vendor partners, including Huawei Technologies. We are happy to bring the Philippines in line with other countries that are early adopters of 5G. Once again, we stay true to our commitment to bring first-world internet in the country,” Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu addressed.

With this, Globe will be able to deploy fixed wireless broadband at a fiber speed. Cu also explained that the 5G technology would allow Globe to use Air Fiber technology in relation to deployment of fixed wireless broadband.

“Air Fiber internet, which make use of fixed location wireless radios instead of fiber, could provide speed ranging from 50 Mbps to 100 Mbps,” Cu added.

On the other hand, during the launch, Globe conducted its live speed test that reached 2.07Gbps.
