Canalys has revealed that Huawei led the Chinese mobile market in Q2 according to its recent report.

In Q1 2018, smartphone shipments in China dropped by more than 20% or to only 91 million units. However, in Q2 2018, the industry has redeemed its rhythm as it tapped more than 100 million handset shipments.

The report shows that Huawei, including its sub-brand Honor, grew its market share to 27% – the biggest share for any smartphone brand in the country since Q2 2011. In addition, Huawei also had the greatest number of shipments into the channel by any vendor at 28.5 million units.

Canalys explained that Huawei’s sub-brand is accounted for 55% of its shipments. Moreover, Canalys also revealed that Honor is now the largest smartphone brand in the Huawei Consumer Group, as it expanded successfully into the USD 500+ segment through its latest flagship models. On the other hand, Huawei-named smartphones have recorded 45% of total sell-in to China.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi – a popular Chinese mobile manufacturer here in the Philippines – recorded a 0% growth in China. The brand tallied 14% of smartphone market shares in Q2 2018. This allows them to settle at rank 4.

The top 4 mobile vendors in China by Q2 2018 are: Huawei, OPPO, Vivo, and Xiaomi.
