In addition, we also visited their R&D Centers located in Shanghai, where we saw the brand’s various labs to assure the quality of their handsets. They have Reliability Lab, Antenna Lab, Audio Lab, Communication Protocal Lab, and Automated Testing – where we witnessed how they make sure that only highly approved devices will be sent to the market.

We also went to Huawei Flagship store, wherein we had a chance to play around with their products and accessories that aren’t available yet in the Philippines. Good news, Jim Xu has revealed that its laptops and accessories will land in the local shores soon.

The company also brought us to Dongguan Songshan Lake Huawei Factory, allowing us to see how they carefully produce their smartphones.

But, on top of all these things, who is Huawei?

If there’s one thing we could use to describe the tech giant, it would be innovation. True enough, the trip highlights how research and development became the brand’s DNA. Moreover, as they go all-out for more innovative technologies, Huawei puts consumers first before anything else.

Huawei continues to invest in R&D to create innovative products centered on consumers’ needs. In fact, 70,000 of their employees are engaged in R&D, meaning more than 45% of their global workforce is focused on research and development alone. To support this, they have founded 16 R&D centers, 36 joint innovation centers, and 45 training centers around the world. In addition, its investment in the last 10 years for its R&D department is roughly at USD62.5 billion.

In the Philippines, Globe Telecom and Smart Communications have teamed up with Huawei Technologies to finally deliver its 5G offerings to the consumers. Huawei isn’t selfish, too. When asked about other brand’s success and innovative products, Vice President for Handset Business Li Changzhu expressed its interest, explaining that any innovation is good for consumers regardless of the brand who made it possible.

But, what makes Huawei different?

The company explained that they stay focused unlike other brands who also offer other products like home appliances and more. Huawei also applies a collective wisdom, as it rotates its CEO every six months. Huawei is 99% employee-owned company, too, leaving only 1% ownership to its founder.

Also, Huawei doesn’t work just to be your go-to brand. They don’t work to be the number one smartphone manufacturer. Proud enough to claim this, Huawei boasts that they are always after consumers’ needs and how they can meet these demands. Hence, the brand innovates, while competition comes behind.
