The tech manufacturer also claimed that this new generation of chipset will deliver a remarkable era in mobile computing through its capability to give ultra-high performance, intelligence, efficiency, and connectivity. The chip integrates 6.9 billion transistors to improve both performance and energy efficiency, too.

The Kirin 980 is also the first chip to come with a dual-core Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This ensures consumers a faster and more accurate response to AI-assisted features, including object recognition in photography.
