Although Samsung is still considered as the number one mobile manufacturer, the Korean tech giant might be pressured right now as other smartphone companies continue to challenge them through impressive devices with affordable price tags. Finally recognizing this dilemma, the brand recently launched its new mid-range smartphone with triple rear cameras – the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018).

As its first device with a triple-lens setup, our team luckily got a chance to play around with the Galaxy A7 (2018). Looking at the handset for the very first time would immediately remind you of the Huawei P20 Pro. Interestingly, the first real camera-centric smartphone of Samsung was a mid-ranger, along with the Galaxy A9 (2018) that has quad cameras. It's like teasing us with what more they can offer when they finally arm their top-tier handsets with this camera setup. Moreover, the brand has perfectly dressed it with a premium-looking body as if it’s a flagship device.

Samsung held in metal and glass construction, while the Galaxy A7 (2018) is available in various color options including Blue, Black, Gold, and Pink. Its front is dominated by a 6-inch Super AMOLED panel with an 18:9 Infinity Display. Comes with not so thick bezels, the company didn’t bank on putting a notch on top of its screen. During our hands-on experience, too, we noticed that it still has a Grade A display compared to its competitors.

Its speakers, sensors, and front camera are placed above the screen. On its left cheek, you’d find its card tray that accommodates two nano SIM card and microSD card slots. The latter allows users to expand their storage up to 512GB. Meanwhile, its right side houses its volume keys, and power/lock button that also works as its fingerprint scanner. Its speaker grills, microUSB port, and 3.5mm audio jack are located on its chin. All of its functions worked well during our hands-on.

Flip the device on its back to see its glass-like body. It also has a protruding triple rear cameras aligned vertically together with its LED flash. It flaunts the company’s branding, too.

For selfies, on the other hand, it is mounted with a single 24-megapixel front snapper.
