From now on, drone pilots no longer have to rely on the use of their smartphone or tablet. DJI presents at the CES 2019, among other things, its DJI smart remote control, which offers pilots even more options for the Mavic 2 and other drones with OcuSync 2.0.

“CES features the newest and smartest tech innovations from around the world, and that makes it the perfect place for DJI to launch our Smart Controller,” said Mario Rebello, Vice President & Country Manager, North America. “The Smart Controller is DJI’s latest tool to allow anyone to capture incredible perspectives from the sky, and we are excited that CES attendees can experience it first-hand. We invite everyone at CES to try it at our booth, which features our latest innovations in the drone and imaging field and demonstrates how DJI has established itself as a global technology leader.”

The DJI Smart Controller integrates a razor-sharp 5.5-inch FHD display, thanks to its very high brightness of 1,000 cd/m² and that should also be readable outdoors. DJI's remote control easily connects to the Mavic 2 series of DJI drones Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom Drones and transmits videos live in Full HD thanks to the OcuSync 2.0 transmission system. The DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise will soon be compatible with the DJI Smart Remote Control.

The customizable FHD display on the DJI Smart Controller provides enough room for DJI Go 4, DJI Pilot (which will be supported with a future update), and third-party apps such as video editing or photo editing directly on the device. The DJI Go 4 app also includes some new features like SkyTalk, which allows drone fans to share the drone's live stream directly on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and other social media accounts.

With the new "Go Share" function, videos and photos can be easily transferred to a smartphone or tablet. DJI calls for the smart remote control a battery life of up to 2.5 hours and the use in temperatures from -20 degrees to +40 degrees Celsius. The new smart remote control is now available for a retail price of just $649. In addition, the smart remote control is available together with the Mavic 2 Pro and the Mavic 2 Zoom.
