Attributing their success to the enthusiastic support of consumers and partners around the world, Huawei, through the Huawei Consumer BG has announced that its smartphone shipments for the year 2018 has reached an all-time high record after surpassing the 200 millionth mark.

The success if further driven by the advancements Huawei brought on its two flagship smartphones, the Huawei P20 Pro and the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, which raised the bar of what smart mobile photography can do.

In addition to this, the elegant and stylish design of the Huawei P20 series has also attracted a large number of female users that it exceeded 16 million units of shipments since its release in March last year.

The Huawei Mate 20 which has the most powerful and sophisticated chip in Huawei history in the form of the Kirin 980, on the other hand, has over five million units shipped within two months of release.

Huawei also soared high in the mid-range department last year with the Huawei Nova Series, which sold a total of over 65 million units.

Tracing back the past eight years of Huawei in the smartphone industry, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has increased from three million units in 2010 to 200 million units in 2018, recording a sixty-six-fold growth. Huawei has also become one of the top three smartphone players in the world from being considered as a statistical “other”. In the second and the third quarters of 2018, Huawei became the world’s second largest smartphone manufacturer with a global market share of 14.6 percent.

Currently, Huawei smartphones are being widely-used by more than 500 million consumers in more than 170 countries around the world.

According to a report by IPSOS, one of the industry's leading third-party research institutions, the Huawei brand has already become associated with the idea that it keeps on progressing and has strong innovation ability and trustworthiness in the eyes of its global consumer base.
