One of the factors for the said number is the new free TV channels onboard the ABS-CBN TVplus Digital TV Box. According to Kantar Media’s Q4 2018 report on digital terrestrial televisions (DTT) households across the Philippines, the said new free and exclusive channels including CineMo and YeY maintained their spot as the third and fourth most-watched channels respectively. JeepneyTV landed on the fifth spot, with Movie Central and Asianovela Channel are owning the sixth and eighth rank. The said channels also had their free trial period extended this year.

TVplus’ pay-per-view channel KBO, which is made available to all mobile networks, has recorded 1.2M unique TVplus customers to register using the service.

The ABS-CBN TVplus is one of the TV network’s efforts in slowly changing from analog to digital broadcast, a feat they’re aiming to complete by 2023. The network also promised to expand its signal coverage areas in the Philippines to add more scope to the list, including Metro Manila, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Rizal, Laguna, Pampanga, Tarlac, Benguet, Cavite, Metro Cebu, Cagayan De Oro, Iloilo, Bacolod, and Davao.

Based on the Kantar Media establishment survey last August 2018, 72% of non-cabled homes in Metro Manila have an ABS-CBN TVplus box, versus 55% in August 2017. The number of non-cabled homes with a TVplus box also increased in Mega Manila to 65% from 44%, while those in the suburbs grew to 57% from 33% in the same period last year.
