INTRODUCTION:

Tapped as our main driver for almost a month now, the OPPO F11 Pro proved that it has a lot to offer apart from its flashy design and impressive camera performance. As a mid-range smartphone with a reasonable price tag, OPPO was able to deliver a jam-packed device that didn’t compensate any of its offerings.

Being a great overall handset, continue to read to see if it can really deliver your wants and needs on a smartphone. Let’s dig deeper now!

PHYSICAL:

OPPO F11 Pro Unboxing and Initial Impressions

The F11 Pro is housed with a simpler design than its predecessor, the F9, which has an extravagant appearance. With this, the F11 Pro manages to be a tamed yet a striking-device that can still stand out through its refreshing physique. The handset comes in two color variants: Thunder Black and Aurora Green. Our team, on the other hand, received the latter model.

The device can easily attract fingerprints and smudges because of its glass-like body and metallic framing. So, if you wish to preserve its stunning appearance, it’s better to use a protective case than flaunt it naked.

Front

Another notable change from previous F-series smartphones is found on its screen. Its front is dominated by a 6.53-inch FHD+ panel with no waterdrop notch. To make this possible, OPPO equipped it with a pop-up front camera that gives off an impressive experience. Unfortunately, we’re a bit surprised that the brand only settled for a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor than upgrading to in-display fingerprint scanner, just like its rivals who level up their offerings.

Located on top is its 16MP pop-up selfie snapper, noise cancelling microphone, and the ambient light sensor. Meanwhile, its 3.5mm audio jack, speaker grilles, and MicroUSB 2.0 port are placed on its chin.

Its right cheek accommodates its power button and hybrid card slot, while its volume rocker is sited on its left side.

Flip the device on its back to reveal its dual rear cameras. At first glance, you’d think that it has triple rear shooters because its lens are vertically aligned with its LED flash, while all of them are situated inside a protruding housing. You’d also see its fingerprint scanner, OPPO logo, as well as the “designed by OPPO” text.

Overall, all of its keys are thoughtfully placed somewhere we can easily reach it. We never had a problem dealing with its functions, as well.

DISPLAY:

The F11 Pro sports an immersive 6.53-inch FHD+ LCD panel with a 2340 x 1080 pixels. We enjoyed watching videos and playing games using the device, thanks to its 90.9% screen-to-body ratio. Moreover, we didn’t notice any glitches when running videos and games with heavy graphics. It has a good viewing angle, too.

Although, we’ve seen better, it's good that the device showcases punchy and accurate colors. It has great brightness level, as well, even when we’re using it outdoors.

SOFTWARE:

OPPO F11 Pro Software
Software

The F11 Pro runs on Android 9.0 Pie with ColorOS 6 skin on top of it. For us, its skin is lively and colorful, but not in a way that it appears like a toy. It comes with various pre-installed apps including Google native apps, OPPO apps, and Facebook.

OPPO F11 Pro Face Unlock Feature
Face Unlock

Navigating the device is easy, as well. To use its face unlock, users simply have to swipe up its screen to elevate its pop-up front camera. For us, this is one of the most impressive features of the handset, as it is fast and accurate. For instance, when we used it in a dark room or at night, the device can still easily detect our face. Cool, isn’t it?

Nevertheless, we’re afraid to overwork its pop-up camera, so, we’re just using its fingerprint scanner most of the time. Impressively, it’s also responsive and we never had an issue dealing with it, too.

Meanwhile, one of our favorite features is its Screen-off Gestures. Through this, we can swiftly operate the device when its screen is turned off. We just simply have to double tap to turn the screen on, draw a letter O to launch its camera, draw a letter V to turn on its flashlight, and draw a pause/play sign to control its music.

PERFORMANCE:

OPPO equipped the F11 Pro with Helio P70 octa-core processor clocked at 2.1GHz, complemented by Mali-G72 MP3 graphics. Making sure that it can handle users’ mobile activities, the device is coupled with 6GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. If you’re a gamer or just a casual smartphone user, we’re sure that the handset can power up your tasks such as gaming and multitasking.

We ran it on our preferred benchmark apps. Here are the results:

Benchmark Scores

  • PCMark Work 2.0 Performance - 7,948
  • AnTuTu - 148,161
  • 3DMark (Ice Storm Unlimited) - 22,401
  • 3DMark (Ice Storm Extreme) - Max
  • 3DMark (Sling Shot) - 1,788
  • 3DMark (Sling Shot Extreme - OpenGL ES 3.1) - 1,275
  • 3DMark (Sling Shot Extreme - Vulkan) - 1,252
  • Geekbench (Single Core) - 1,537
  • Geekbench (Multi Core) - 5,953

When used intensively, the F11 Pro never lagged even when multiple apps were running on its background. Playing games are smooth, as well as switching from one app to another.

The device didn’t heat up when we’re using WiFi when playing games with heavy graphics. However, when we switched to LTE, the handset started to heat up as soon as its battery reached its low percentage.

CAMERA:

Backed with great photography capabilities, the F11 Pro sports dual-rear camera setup composed of a 48-megapixel f/1.8 main shooter, and a 5-megapixel f/2.4 secondary sensor. For selfies, it is equipped with a 16-megapixel pop-up snapper that comes with AI support to enhance your photos.

The handset comes with various camera modes including Portrait, HDR, Dazzle color, different filters, Night, Expert, Panorama, Time-lapse, Slo-mo, and Google Lens. To achieve natural-looking images when taking selfies, users can adjust some of its beautification features.

Selfie (Low-Light)

As promised by OPPO, the device can really capture great low-light photos. Portrait shots were good in places with dim lighting, however, noises became visible when taking selfies at low light settings. It’s still manageable, though.

Also, we prefer to disable some of its features like its dazzle color, as it produces cartoon-like images with its too lively colors.

CONNECTIVITY:

The F11 Pro is a dual SIM device that supports LTE connectivity. Unfortunately, if users wish to expand their storage, they have to give up one of its slots to make way for its microSD card. Meanwhile, the device comes with basic connectivity features such as WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC. All of these worked well, including sending and receiving SMS and calls, noting that we have good signal reception.

We’re also glad to see its 3.5mm audio jack, considering that some mobile manufacturers are already ditching it out. It boasts a MicroUSB 2.0 port, too, which is underwhelming for some consumers.

BATTERY:

We knew that OPPO now banks on its stamina aside from its photography department. Of course, packed with jaw-dropping features, the F11 Pro must be juiced with a large battery capacity to keep the fun running. Hence, the brand geared it with 4,000mAh battery that supports VOOC 3.0 fast charging.

When not heavily used, the device can last for almost two days with just a single charge. Activities include basic communications and social media browsing. As a main driver, on the other hand, its power is enough to accompany us for a day. Daily mobile tasks include heavy social media browsing, switching from one app to another, internet surfing, and watching videos.

Meanwhile, when heavily used for gaming, we’re satisfied that we only have to charge it twice a day.

We also ran it on PCMark Battery Life test, and it scored 12 hours and 38 minutes.

For charging time, our device took almost two hours to fully charge its battery.

FINAL WORDS:

OPPO F11 Pro Review Philippines
OPPO F11 Pro Review

Overall, our team is convinced that the F11 Pro can deliver users’ mobile needs without costing an arm and a leg. Aside from its jaw-dropping physique, the device is also packed with impressive features such as immersive screen, trendy pop-up selfie snapper, great camera performance, and long battery life.

Although we’re afraid about how long we can really push its elevating front camera to go up and down, we can say that it feels solid and durable when we tried to move and shake it.

So, if you’re looking for a new smartphone, consider getting the F11 Pro to score a premium-like device that only costs Php18,990.
