| Smart to Enhance LTE Network Coverage in Boracay |
PLDT and Smart are committed to support sustainable tourism in Boracay. To prove this, the telco giant has enhanced its network to allow consumers experience an enhanced connectivity. In fact, Smart has already deployed LTE to 83% of its Boracay sites to date.
“With our expanded networks, tourists can share the beauty of Boracay to the world, and enjoy a better video streaming and mobile gaming experience, as well as access key online services like banking and e-commerce while on the island,” Mario G. Tamaya, PLDT and Smart Senior Vice President for Network Planning and Engineering, addressed.
Smart also revealed that 80% of its LTE sites has been further upgraded to LTE-A, which gives consumers a faster mobile date experience for better video viewing and mobile gaming.
Meanwhile, the company is having a week-long Smart Love Boracay event to support sustainable tourism in partnership with the Department of Tourism, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Interior and Local Government, the Provincial Government of Aklan, and the local government of Malay.

The event eyes to celebrate Boracay’s reopening, and to promote environmental awareness among tourists.
The Smart Love Boracay festival runs from April 26 to May 1, 2019.
