Smart Delivers the Best Video Experience in the Philippines – OpenSignal

PLDT telco subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has dominated the recent report of mobile analytics firm OpenSignal, revealing that it delivers the best video experience in the Philippines.

According to OpenSignal’s Philippines Mobile Network Experience Report September 2019, Smart has won in four categories, including Video Experience, Download Speed Experience, Upload Speed Experience, and Latency Experience.

Based on the report, Smart scored 47.6 ahead of its rival Globe that got 30.4 points in terms of Video Experience. Meanwhile, in terms of overall Download Speed Experience, Smart posted 9.4 Mbps ahead of Globe’s 6.5 Mbps. Smart also won over Globe in terms of 4G Download Speed, as they recorded 12.7 Mbps and 8.3 Mbps, respectively.

For Latency Experience, Smart scored 61.9ms compared to competition’s 64.2ms – the lower number is better.

Smart also dominated OpenSignal’s report across 18 regions and provinces in the country.

OpenSignal gathered their data from May 1 to July 29, 2019, wherein they independently analyzed over 533 million measurements from over 190,000 devices.

In case you missed it, OpenSignal recently revealed that Manila, Philippines achieved mid-range scores in Internet speed – which is said to be at par with other Southeast Asian countries.
