Last September 2019, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso has inked its partnership with PayMaya to power up its program, which eyes to deliver a more timely financial assistance and other benefits to senior citizens, PWDs, and solo parents of Manila. This July, they partnered once more to promote safe and convenient cashless transactions to the city government via PayMaya QR.

Thru the new partnership, stores located near the Manila City Hall and Divisoria will be slowly transformed into "cashless stalls" and buyers may soon be paying using their PayMaya app, which helps prevents the spread of virus especially in the current COVID-19 pandemic that we are facing.

“We want to give vendors around Manila a dignified way to sell their goods, which is why we built these upgraded stalls for them, free of charge. And to further improve the way they run their business, we are equipping them with contactless payments with the help of PayMaya,” said Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso during the PayMaya and USAID E-PESO Project webinar on “Effective Delivery of Government Aid through Digital Disbursements” on Thursday, July 2.
“Manila City is one of the LGUs that are leading the way in digitalization. Citizens can receive their financial assistance directly to their own PayMaya accounts linked to their Manila City ID cards, and now vendors can easily and safely accept cashless payments via PayMaya. We are proud to be a partner in the city's digitalization efforts,” said PayMaya Founder and CEO Orlando Vea.

As of the time of posting, around 90 stalls and stores are now equipped with PayMaya QR as they prepare to restart their operation to help boost the local economy as quarantine eases up.

In case you missed it, Mayor Isko recently announced that select Manila City residents will receive a monthly allowance. To make this possible, Mayor Isko has teamed up with PayMaya to transfer funds more conveniently to their beneficiaries.

Through this partnership, the city government will be able to produce an all-in-one citizen ID card, which will be powered by PayMaya. Hence, disbursements of the stipends will be more efficient for the local government, while it will become more convenient and seamless for the recipients.

In addition, this collaboration will help senior citizens, PWDs, and solo parents to save more time when claiming their monthly allowance, as they no longer have to fall in line at the city hall or other government offices when getting their stipends.

Mayor Isko also explained that this partnership will allow them to have more transparent government services.

“We are happy to partner with PayMaya for this groundbreaking initiative for the city of Manila, which will help empower some of the most vulnerable citizens of our nation’s capital. Utilizing financial technologies to deliver efficient and transparent government services is in line with our goal of transforming Manila into a ‘smart city’ of the future,” Manila Mayor Isko noted.

Meanwhile, PayMaya addressed that beneficiaries can also link their card to its app. This will enable Manila City residents to access discounted airtime load for all mobile networks, accessible bills payment, QR and card payments, sending money, and withdrawal of cash.
