Luckily, our team got a chance to try the M1140 – the series’ most basic model.

PHYSICAL:

Inside the box, we’re greeted with the M1140 unit, user guide, warranty card, software disc, free ink, detachable power source, and a high-speed USB cable.

As expected, Epson dressed it with a black-and-white color scheme, which looks very similar to its brothers. Its front panel comes with an Epson branding, too.

It is the smallest unit in the series, and it also has a light body. Having a compact design, users can easily lift it whenever they like to move it from one place to another, most especially when they opt to keep it inside the box when not in use.

However, our team decided to put it in one place as it won't occupy a large space in our room. We just noticed that its white body can easily attract dirt.

What we like about the most about its design is that we can effortlessly see the amount of our ink. It also allows users to refill it easily without spilling the ink. In addition, users will love its A4-paper input tray, wherein they can place up to 250 sheets for a more productive experience.

PERFORMANCE:

As the name suggests, the M1140 produces black-and-white outputs. Of course, Epson packed it with a free single bottle of black ink. And since it’s an ink tank printer, the device offers an affordable printing cost as users can print up to 6,000 pages in just one bottle of ink.

The brand also claimed that it has a top print speed of 20 ipm for simplex and 9.0 ipm for duplex. Printing documents, files, and photos were really fast during our tests, and we're also glad that it allows back-to-back printing.

In terms of quality, printing texts was never an issue. However, when printing images, we noticed that it’s not as sharp as expected. It’s still clean though. We’re also impressed that inks were dry enough even when printing a file that requires heavy amount of ink.

Moreover, its USB connectivity allows us to use it as our personal printer, while we can also use it via wireless connection if we want to share it with others.

VERDICT:

The Epson EcoTank M1140 is a good printer at its price point. It is also perfect for consumers who want to save more bucks, as it offers affordable printing cost and fast print speed.

It is now available in the Philippines with 4 years or 50,000 pages of warranty, whichever comes first.
