Acer Philippines has teamed up with the City of Manila to provide better library facilities. With this partnership, the tech giant has donated 42 PC units to the city’s public libraries, powering up Manila Mayor Isko Moreno’s Digital Literacy for All Project.

Acer Philippines recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the City of Manila in support of the local government’s project, which eyes to give every person an opportunity to learn the digital skills that will be relevant not only in their workplace but also in their daily lives.

Through the project, the local government provides spaces inside public libraries for group discussions, meetings, and other collaborative engagements.

"It is an honor for Acer to partner with the City of Manila in promoting access to quality education. We are proud of Mayor Isko Moreno's efforts to make digital education more accessible to Manileños and provide opportunities for growth and development through this partnership," Acer Philippines Inc. Managing Director, Mr. Manuel Wong, addressed.

Under the agreement, Acer gave off 42 desktop units, which will be distributed in 11 Manila City Public Libraries. These include Manila-Sacramento Friendship Library, San Nicolas Public Library, Tondo Public Library, Valeriano E. Fugoso Library, Main Library Ref. Division, Kapitan Isidro Mendoza Public Library, Dapitan Complex Library, Arsenio H. Lacson Public Library, Bacood Public Library, Patricia Public Library, and Manila-San Francisco Friendship Library.

“When I was a councilor way back 1998, I established a computer learning center even though I know that Internet resources were limited. I am backed with this hope that technology will soon catch up and be vital for acquiring knowledge,” Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno said. “I am glad I carried this vision over when I became a Vice Mayor and now the Mayor of Manila City. With Acer, I am grateful that better computer and library facilities become more accessible to Manilenos,” Mayor Isko added.
