5 Reasons Not To Buy A New Smartphone

1. There's A New Model - It is not wise to fork out a lot of money just to get the latest model of a smartphone. If yours is still functional, then why buy a new one just for the heck of having the latest? Besides, the newest model will be eclipsed by a much newer model in a year or two, so that means you'll be changing phones on a near-yearly basis.

2. Cracked Screen - The most common damage smartphones get. A major drop can easily crack your screen, and it seems like all hope is gone. However, the most common damage is also the most common and easily repaired one. Most of the time, professional repair peeps can fix this easily. In addition to that, it is way less expensive than buying a new phone. It is an irresponsible financial decision to buy a new phone every time you destroy it. It is just downright wasteful.

3. Need Vs. Want - Before buying a new phone, always ask this question, "Do I need a new phone or do I just want a new one?". Most of the time, you will say that you want to upgrade your phone because the people around you are using the latest and the greatest. However, your phone is still functional and can still do what the new devices can. Needing a new phone is way different from wanting it.

4. Storage Problems - You get that device is running out of storage message, and you panic, thinking that your phone's storage is just too small for the advancing world. Stop. Just stop right there. You just need to utilize a few things to free up some space on your device. One, upload your photos to the cloud. Another option is to buy an SD card for extra storage if your phone has a slot for it. A 128GB SD card is way less expensive than a new smartphone with the same storage capacity.

5. Financial Priorities - A new upper midrange or flagship phone will start at around Php30,000. That is a lot of money, considering you still have a perfectly functioning smartphone. Think about that for a moment. You can use that money to travel, save up for the future, and a lot more. You do not have to consider buying a new phone just because you have extra funds.

These are just 5 of the most logical reasons not to buy a new phone right away. These reasons are just on the tip of the iceberg. It boils down to this; you don't always need a newer smartphone. Make the most of what you have right now, and you'll realize that there is more to your device for you to explore.
