DJI Mavic Air 2 with 8K Video Now Official; Yours for Only Php39,990 |
Dubbed by DJI as “the best all-around drone” the company has made so far, the Mavic Air 2 is the first drone in its series that’s capable of producing 4K video at 60fps and 120Mbps. Apart from this, the new drone can also capture videos at 4X Slow Motion in 1080p at 120 fps or 8X Slow Motion in 1080 p at 240 fps.
Apart from this, with the DJI Mavic Air 2, pilots can choose to capture images at 12-megapixel or using a new high-resolution 48-megapixel feature for bright and spotless details. This new drone also comes with a mechanical 3-axis gimbal for smooth and stable footage in whichever setting or environment.
Included in the new intelligent features of the Mavic Air 2 is its SmartPhoto feature, which utilizes advanced scene analysis using its 12-megapixel sensor coupled with deep learning to automatically choose the best photo out of three image capture options. It also has a large Quad Bayer ½” sensor, which equips the drone with a variety of image capture modes like HDR photos for highly dynamic images, Hyperlight for low-light scenarios, and Scene Recognition with five categories namely sunsets, blue skies, grass, snow, and trees.
The Mavic Air 2 also allows for a seamless and convenient pilot experience with its FocusTrack feature, the most advanced tracking feature on any DJI drone yet. This has three different modes, including ActiveTrack 3.0, Point of Interest 3.0, and Spotlight 2.0.
ActiveTrack 3.0 automatically follows a subject using state-of-the-art mapping technology and a new flight path for obstacle avoidance and the ability to re-engage the subject if it temporarily moves behind an object. Point of Interest 3.0, meanwhile, allows pilots to set an automated flight path around a subject and now has improved surface recognition. Spotlight 2.0 works in locking the subject in the frame while the pilot has a free operation of the drone’s movement.

The new Mavic Air 2 weighs as much as a small water bottle at 570 grams despite its new motors, new electronic speed controllers, and enhanced battery technology, and an aerodynamic design that allows maximum flight time of up to 34 minutes.
This drone also comes with DJI’s very own OcuSync 2.0 transmission technology with an improved function to deliver stable HD video feed from the drone up to 10km distance.
In terms of drone safety, DJI has equipped the Mavic Air 2 with obstacle sensors both on the front and the rear of the drone, and auxiliary lights on the bottom to help ensure automatic landing even in low-light environments. Mavic Air 2 also comes equipped with our GEO geofencing solution to help keep drones away from the highest-risk locations, such as busy airports.
The Mavic Air 2 also has the Advanced Pilot Assistance System (APAS) 3.0, which now uses 3D mapping in autonomous flying for smooth transitions and movements even in highly complex environments.
The said drone is also the first consumer drone to be equipped with AirSense technology, which uses aviation innovation to receive signals from nearby airplanes and helicopters and displays their location on the drone user’s screen. Through AirSense, the Mavic Air 2 can send warnings like messages, sounds, and vibrations to the drone pilot so the user can move the drone away from approaching aircraft safely.
The Mavic Air 2 comes compatible with an intuitive, easy-to-use application with in-app editing features. Its availability in the Philippines is yet to be announced due to logistics restrictions brought by COVID-19. In terms of pricing, the Mavic Air 2 in the standard package with the Mavic Air 2 aircraft, one battery, remote controller, and all the required wires and cables retails for Php39,990. In contrast, the Fly More Combo package, which includes all items from the standard version as well as a shoulder bag, ND filters, charging hub, and 2 extra batteries, is tagged at PHP 52,990.
