The Chromebook Spin 713 is Acer’s first Project Athena-based product, meaning through a series of tests, Acer and Intel managed to bring both the needed specs apt for business professionals looking for a productivity device.

This is achieved, of course, through Chromebook 713’s powerful internals, including 10th Gen Intel Core processors with 16GB DDR4 SDRAM and up to 256GB of PCIe MVMe SSD storage. Since this laptop promotes seamless productivity, it has a fast-chargeable battery life that can last up to 10 hours of usage.

Flaunting a 13.5-inch VertiView display in 2256 x 1504 resolution with a 3:2 aspect ratio, the Chromebook 713 has 18% more vertical screen, reducing the need to scroll by showing content in a large screen at once. Its IPS display also has 2K clarity, which is a good feature, especially for those who like to stream videos and use various applications.

As mentioned, the Chromebook 713 is a convertible that can be opened 360 degrees, making it useful in various modes, including display mode for presentations, tablet mode apt for entertainment and binge-watching, a clamshell mode for the usual laptop form, and tent mode ideal for small work areas.

Since it’s a convertible, the Chromebook 713 is made portable as it measures just 16.8 mm thin and weighs only 1.37 kg.

The Chromebook 713 also comes equipped with a touchscreen and a touchpad coated with Corning Gorilla Glass for scratch protection. Apart from this, the said laptop also has an Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass for protection against odor and stain-causing microorganisms.

An added layer of outer protection is the Chromebook 713’s aluminum chassis with military-grade durability, making its body dent- and corrosion-resistant. The laptop also has an integrated shock-absorbing bumper, allowing the Chromebook 713 to survive accidental drops from heights of up to 48 inches, and withstand up to 60kg of downward force.

The Chromebook 713 also has generous options for connectivity, namely two USB 3.1 Type-C ports that both support USB 3.2 Gen1, DisplayPort over USB-C, USB charging port, HDMI port, USB 3.0, and a microSD card reader. For wireless connections, this laptop offers a  Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 AX201 (802.11ax) with 2x2 MU-MIMO technology and Bluetooth 5.0.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 713 will be available in North America starting this July with a price tag ranging from USD 629.99. Acer launched this laptop in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) last June for a starting price of EUR 699.

Apart from the Chromebook Spin 713, there’s also the Acer Chromebook Enterprise Spin 713 designed for businesses.

A unique feature of the Chromebook Enterprise Spin 713 is its ability to easily manage and deploy a cloud workforce. With this device,  IT administrators will find it easy to control updates, configure apps, utilize extensions and policies with the laptop’s web-based management system.

According to Acer General Manager for Notebooks and IT Products Business James Lin, the Chromebook Spin Enterprise 713 is made for workplaces that give employees the freedom to work either in the office or at home.

“Businesses of all sizes are embracing cloud-based tools, so their employees can work more effectively from their offices or homes, while also staying connected and collaborating with colleagues, customers, and partners. Acer’s new Chromebook Spin Enterprise 713 will help businesses accomplish more while delivering what IT management wants – security, ease of deployment, manageability, and a solid return on investment,” Lin said.

The Acer Chromebook Enterprise Spin 713 will be available in North America in August starting at USD 1099; and in EMEA in August, starting at EUR 899.

As a more affordable and a more consumer-friendly option, Acer also recently announced the new Chromebook Spin 311 designed for students. This convertible device has an 11.6-inch HD touch display with Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass, long battery life of up to 15 hours, wide field-of-view webcam, 802.11ac 2x2 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.2. The Chromebook Spin 311 weighs only 1kg and is made to fit in students’ backpacks.

The economical Acer Chromebook Spin 311 will be available in North America this month for USD 259.99 and up, while it’s already released in EMEA last month starting at EUR 299. No local pricing and availability, yet.
