For those unfamiliar with VoLTE, it is the first fully IP-based carrier-grade voice service that uses 4G LTE to transmit voice calls. For comparison, the traditional practice is that calls go through 2G or 3G mobile networks. This means that since it does need to shift to 2G or 3G networks, subscribers utilizing VoLTE stay online. Simply put, simultaneously be in a voice call while actively using high-speed data for gaming or other applications.

The other main benefit of VoLTE is the high-definition voice call quality. Yes, that's right. The calls that are course through VoLTE is superior in quality compared to calls made over 2G or 3G. Moreover, if both ends are using VoLTE, the calls are much clearer with very minimal to no background noise.

Some of the smartphones that are VoLTE capable are the from Samsung, such as the S8 and up series, Note8 and up series, Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Flip, and Galaxy A series. Devices from Huawei also features VoLTE, such as Mate 10 and up series, P30 series, and Y series.
To make Voice over LTE call, users just to enable the VoLTE in the phone's settings. There is no need to install or app to be downloaded, just use the phone's dialer and make VoLTE calls. Moreover, calls made with VoLTE are treated and charged like normal (legacy) calls.
