DESIGN AND ERGONOMICS:
The SoundPEATS TrueFree2 comes in a small, oval-shaped form factor designed with what SoundPEATS call ear fins made of rubber, which does the job of properly and comfortably securing the pair in the ears. These earphones are built to accompany users even during extreme sports and heavy workout routines, and it’s impressive that they don’t easily fall off.

And since it’s poised as a music buddy for those who like to sweat a lot, it’s only fitting for the SoundPEATS TrueFree2 earphones to come equipped with an IPX7 rating, giving it the capability to withstand sweat and water spills. Devices with IPX7 rating can also be submerged in water at a depth of one meter for 30 minutes.
USB Type-C Charging Case |
It’s charging case comes in a standard-looking form factor, with four LED indicators inside for battery percentage. One LED represents 25% of the device’s power status.
The earbuds themselves are premium-looking enough, sporting a black color with a letter S branding on both the left and right earphones. SoundPEATS has removed the touch control for this pair and has instead included physical buttons, which somehow affects the earphones' comfortability since pushing them applies pressure to the ears. A single push allows you to pause and play music; a double press on the right earbud increases volume while two presses on the left earbud do the opposite. Pushing the button of the right earbud for more than a second will lead to the next song while doing the same on the left earbud will play the previous track. Triple presses will bring you your phone’s voice assistant.
The package of the SoundPEATS TrueFree2 comes with a USB Type-C charging cable and three pairs of interchangeable ear tips.

PERFORMANCE:
Inside the SoundPEATS TrueFree2 are 6mm bio-compound diaphragm drivers, which the company says can deliver audio with outstanding clarity and low distortion. What we noticed about its sound quality is its punch bass -- as if the earphones are hyping you up on workouts. It plays tunes across all genres well, emphasizing the balance between background instruments and vocals. The soundstage is impressive as well, but be mindful of turning the volume too high since we’ve noticed some brittle sounds when we used it beyond 90% of volume.

You might also want to skip using this pair on voice calls because its performance in this department is not applaudable at all.
BATTERY:
The SoundPEATS TrueFree2 gave us mediocre battery performance with just 4 hours of continuous playback. It’s also a bummer that it took us more than 2 hours before the earphones reached 100% of the battery again. On paper, each earbud has a 43mAh battery, while the case comes with 380mAh.
FINAL WORDS:
Overall, we’re fairly satisfied with the SoundPEATS TrueFree2’s performance, especially with its sound quality. If working out has been your go-to stress reliever during the quarantine and you’re looking for a sturdy pair of earphones to join you in your fitness journey, it’s decent to give SoundPEATS TrueFree 2 a chance. It’s priced at Php2,290, available at Digital Walker, Beyond the Box, and HomeOffice.ph.
