"We pledge to deliver on the incoming administration's mission of ensuring that every Filipino thrives as the digital world expands, particularly during the pandemic," DITO Chief Administrative Officer Adel Tamano said.

"To achieve our obligations, we have been rapidly building our network, earmarking substantial investments to address Filipino consumers' increased need for reliable and high-speed internet connectivity," he added.

President Marcos underlined the importance of pushing for universal connection in his first State of the Nation Address on Monday, warning that the digital divide could become "more prominent" as digitalization accelerates.

"Universal connectivity will be critical in ensuring that no citizen is left behind," he stated.

President Marcos directed Secretary of Information and Communications Technology Ivan Uy to implement the National Broadband Plan, the common tower program, and the 'Broadband ng Masa' initiative to improve connectivity in rural areas and islands.

"All applicable digital transit modes should be used. According to President Marcos, these might be accomplished via terrestrial or underwater fiber optics, wireless technology, and even satellite technology "According to President Marcos.

DITO, for its part, has been actively participating in the government's tower-sharing market to expand its statewide reach.

After more than a year of commercial operations, the third telecom player has constructed more than 5,500 towers, providing superior telco services to over 600 cities and municipalities.

The first section of its undersea cable system, which connects the three major Philippine islands, became live in March 2021. The group has already laid over 30,000 kilometers of fiber cable network as of June 2022.

DITO Chief Technology Officer Rodolfo Santiago also revealed the organization's ambition to use satellite technology to reach unserved and underserved communities.

"By expanding our digital infrastructure, DITO is ready to assist the Philippines in emerging stronger from the epidemic," Santiago added.
