Athletes can use the new Garmin Forerunner 955 Solar, which was designed for long-distance running, up to 20 days in smartwatch mode1 and up to 49 hours in GPS mode2. With a snappy touchscreen that compliments the conventional 5-button design and an always-on, full-color display that is easy to see in direct sunshine, the wristwatch was created with runners in mind. This allows for quick access to common health features, simpler control of maps, and more.

According to Mr. Scoppen Lin, Assistant General Manager, Garmin Asia, "athletes who want to be the best seek out the greatest training tools, and we are thrilled to bring the Forerunner 955 Solar to our array of leading GPS running timepieces in the Philippines."

"The Forerunner 955 Solar gives you the tools to pursue your goals with top-notch training features and performance analytics. The Forerunner 955 Solar will support you in going the additional mile no matter where, when, or why you run, continues Stella Tan, Marketing Manager for Garmin Philippines.

Here's what's new.

  • Power Glass solar charging extends the battery life of athletes' GPS devices by up to 49 hours.
  • Swipe quickly through maps, analytics, and more on a touchscreen interface. You can use the touchscreen alone or in conjunction with the conventional 5-button layout.
  • Stay on course in even the most difficult circumstances with multi-band, multi-satellite tracking.
  • Training readiness: Determine each day whether the body is prepared to benefit from training by looking at measures like sleep, recuperation time, HRV, and other factors.
  • Monitor your heart rate variability (HRV) while you sleep to better understand your recovery and general wellness state.
  • Morning report: Receive information on last night's sleep and HRV state, as well as the day's weather and recommended workouts, when synced with a smartphone.
  • Even more customization options are available so athletes can examine only the necessary information.
  • View all the race-related information you need in one widget, including a performance estimate for the particular race day, the weather forecast, and a countdown timer. Daily suggested workouts will change based on an athlete's race plans once a race is scheduled.
  • Real-time stamina insights: Track and monitor your level of effort as you run or cycle.
  • Native running power: Receive real-time measures of how much power is being used during a run, embedded into the watch, when using a Running Dynamics Pod or HRM-ProTM (available separately).

All-day wear

The Forerunner 955 Solar has cutting-edge health and wellness functions and is made to be worn all day. Body Battery energy monitoring measures current energy levels and can help athletes determine the optimal periods for action and rest. Wrist-based Pulse Ox monitors blood oxygen saturation levels to provide a clearer picture of sleep and altitude acclimatization. It also assists in assessing women's health, such as tracking menstrual cycles and pregnancies, allowing users to register symptoms and receive advice on diet and exercise.

With built-in music (you can download up to 2,000 songs from Spotify® playlists) and intelligent social and SMS notifications for alerts from an athlete's Apple® or AndroidTM smartphone, the Forerunner 955 Solar keeps the necessities close at hand.

By alerting an athlete's current location to predetermined emergency contacts or immediately sending a message if an issue is detected, safety and tracking capabilities give athletes peace of mind when exercising outdoors.

Athletes can utilize a Tacx® Smart trainer while cycling indoors by controlling it directly from their watch, using ANT+® technology for workout reminders, automatic resistance changes, and course simulation.

With custom watch faces, data fields, and apps and widgets from the Connect IQTM Store, the Forerunner 955 Solar can be made uniquely yours.
