The vivo Y02s comes in the familiar-looking white box with the vivo emblem etched with a holographic effect. Once you open the package and get your hands on the new vivo Y02s, you'll immediately notice its light build despite its tall form factor. In the package, together with what vivo calls a "slim yet powerful" smartphone, are the usual documents for warranty and quick user guide, and a SIM tray ejector tool. Despite this smartphone falling under the budget category, vivo opted to use a USB-C port instead of the dated MicroUSB one that most budget phones have. With that said, you'll also get a USB-C cord and a 10W portable power adapter.

Unwrapping the smartphone itself from its frosted plastic cover, you'll be greeted with a beautiful, shiny device. The vivo Y02s sports a 2.5D trendy design with a glittery, glass-like texture. You might think that this kind of fancy rear cover would be prone to smudges but it's different for the vivo Y02s. vivo designed it in such a way that it's anti-fingerprint and anti-scratch.

Adding to its pleasing back design is its 8-megapixel camera situated above an LED flash. Both of these come in big circles vertically protruded on the upper left part of the vivo Y02s's rear. The camera + flash module is accentuated with a smooth, metal-like rectangular design detail – another touch that adds aesthetic to the overall look of the smartphone.
Under the hood, the vivo Y02s is powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 with a combination of 3GB and 32GB RAM expandable via microSD support. It runs on Funtouch OS on top of the latest version of Android, Android 12. The vivo Y02s comes with convenient user-interface features, including Face Wake which is basically a face ID that allows you to unlock your smartphone. For a sub-P7k device, this is a nice feature to have.
What's also a strong suit for the vivo Y02s is its generous battery life. As mentioned, this is a smartphone that's ideal for daily hustle.
