The largest fully integrated telecom firm in the nation, PLDT Inc., and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), have added more Paybox terminals to offer customers a quick, secure, and easy payment experience as the government tracks escalating cases of COVID-19 infections.

As of June, the telco had installed over 200 Paybox kiosks in its shops and service locations. Customers may quickly pay their mobile, internet, and landline bills on their own using Paybox, a self-service payment system, without having to wait in line to deal with staff inside shops. As another COVID-19 spike threatens the public, this saves customers time while ensuring their safety.

Paybox includes a straightforward user interface and accepts cash, credit or debit cards, Maya QR codes, and virtual change to make things simpler for customers. This eliminates face-to-face interaction and enables contactless payments. Additionally, clients can easily combine two payment options for a more seamless transaction; all they need to know is their PLDT or Smart account number. Further, payments will be updated in real-time on their accounts.

"Paybox enables us to bring a new online bill payment method to our consumers who are accustomed to using our cashiers. Hopefully, this allows students to adapt to and deal with the rapidly altering times where digital is the standard. Our consumers can save time by using the Paybox to conduct their transactions and feel secure because it is contactless, according to Jeanine Rubin, First Vice President and Head of the Customer Experience Group at PLDT. This aligns with our commitment to prioritizing our client's needs and creating platforms that best meet those demands.

Customers can follow these simple instructions to pay their PLDT or Smart postpaid bills:

  1. Choose PLDT or Smart from the touchscreen at a Paybox kiosk.
  2. Enter the Smart mobile number or the PLDT account number.
  3. Decide on your preferred method of payment. Customers can combine two payment methods (cash and credit/debit card) using an additional feature, which makes the process more convenient and flexible.
  4. Next, enter the desired payment amount and click "Confirm."
  5. When finished, a payment confirmation will appear on the screen, and clients can select to print a receipt or receive a text or email confirming their payment. Real-time posting applies to payments made via the Paybox.

The PLDT group's larger mission to improve the quality of service provided to its consumers through technology and innovation is in line with this retail innovation, which is a component of PLDT and Smart's ongoing digital transformation.
