Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), PLDT's wireless division, has been named the Philippines' Fastest and Best Mobile Network for the third consecutive reporting period by Ookla, a globally recognized authority in network measurement and connectivity intelligence.

According to Ookla's Q1-Q2 2023 research, Smart regularly provides its consumers the quickest mobile speeds and best mobile coverage, gaining the prestigious "Best Mobile Network" designation, which is widely sought by mobile operators globally.
Smart made history by becoming the Philippines' sole mobile provider to obtain Ookla's "Best Mobile Network" award during Q1-Q2 2022. The corporation then repeated its success in the third and fourth quarters of 2022 and, most recently, in the first and second quarters of 2023.

Smart's superiority in Speed and Coverage Scores was emphasized in the most recent Ookla report. Smart won the title of 'Fastest Mobile Network' with a Speed Score of 64.25, far surpassing its nearest competitor's Speed Score of 39.04. Smart also topped the 'Best Mobile Coverage' category with a Coverage Score of 786, beating out its nearest competitor's Coverage Score of 769.

PLDT and Smart's combined fixed and wireless networks contribute to the robust performance of Smart's mobile network. By the end of March 2023, PLDT's overall fiber footprint had grown to over 1.1 million kilometers, including over 231,000 kilometers of international fiber and over 874,000 kilometers of domestic fiber. This fiber infrastructure also powers Smart's 2G, 3G, 4G/LTE, and 5G networks, which will reach 97% of the country by the end of March 2023.
