Smart and TNT Step Up Efforts to Make SIM Registration Easier for Subscribers


With the SIM registration deadline on July 25 rapidly approaching, PLDT's wireless arm, Smart Communications Inc. (Smart), and value brand TNT are stepping up efforts to guarantee that all users register their Smart and TNT SIMs, avoiding deactivation.

In Davao, effective collaborations with Sta. SIM registration is becoming easier thanks to the Ana and Agdao Multipurpose Cooperatives. Edna Villones, a Davao City resident, commended the quick and efficient process. "My SIM registration was quick and easy, and this service is essential because I store all of my important contacts here and use it frequently to connect with my loved ones," she added.

During their Camp Fiesta, the Police Regional Office 11 (PRO11) also contributed to the effort, which benefited police from across the region. Angeli Villaver, a patrolwoman, emphasized the significance of the program, saying, "SIM registration is critical for traceability and aids in combating widespread scams." This initiative simplified the registration process for me."

Smart and TNT are actively partnering with national agencies and local government units to put up thousands of SIM Registration booths across the country, with a special emphasis on remote locations. This project is supporting millions of clients in meeting legal requirements. Cathy Yang, FVP and Head of Group Corporate Communications at PLDT and Smart stated, "Our commitment ensures that no one is left behind in SIM registration."

Smart also collaborated with The Generics Pharmacy in Davao to provide SIM registration help to patients at the Kaibigan sa Kalusugan Medical Caravan.

The firms will continue to deploy more teams in Mindanao in order to provide a seamless SIM registration experience, particularly for the elderly, those with disabilities, and people who utilize legacy phones.

Smart Prepaid and TNT subscribers can register in PLDT and Smart stores or utilize Smart's SIM registration portal at https://www.smart.com.ph/simreg. Smart postpaid customers are already enrolled using their existing account credentials in accordance with the SIM registration laws.

The SIM Registration Act, Republic Act 11934, governs SIM card use to combat SMS scams and other illegal mobile phone activity; all SIM users have until July 25, 2023, to register their SIMs under their names or face deactivation.
