During a ceremony at Globe headquarters in Bonifacio Global City, the commercial public release of Gogoro Smartscooters and battery-swapping stations in Metro Manila was announced for Q4 2023. Ernest Cu, President and CEO of Globe Group, expressed delight in delivering Gogoro's transportation ecosystem to the Philippines, which blends mobility innovation and sustainability.

The launch of Gogoro marks the Globe Group's foray into the climate tech industry, addressing daily pain issues for Filipinos while advocating a sustainable mobility choice. Gogoro intends to alleviate commuter concerns about high gas prices and minimize carbon emissions in keeping with the partners' shared commitment to sustainability and the Philippine government's sustainable development goal.

The collaboration also marks Gogoro's entry into the Philippines, following its success in revolutionizing two-wheel mobility in Taiwan and developing an intelligent mobility economy with eco-friendly firms and end-users. Gogoro is currently present in China, India, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, and Israel.

Horace Luke, Founder, and CEO of Gogoro, expressed his company's eagerness to expand the Gogoro ecosystem to the Philippines and replicate its success in Taiwan. Gogoro has 540,000 riders in Taiwan and has deployed over one million smart batteries at 12,000 battery-swapping stations. Since the company's inception, Gogoro riders have done over 450 million total exchanges, saving more than 627,000 tons of CO2.

The first Gogoro battery-swapping station at The Globe Tower was launched at the ceremony, with ambitions to develop a network of stations throughout Metro Manila and the country. A Gogoro pilot program will also be created, allowing 70 Globe workers to test the Smartscooters® and battery-swapping technology for two months beginning in May.

Globe Capital Venture Holdings Inc. Director Bernie Llamzon lauded the Gogoro ecosystem's convenience and ability to reduce congestion and carbon emissions in the metro area. 917Ventures Managing Director Vince Yamat stressed the significance of government assistance for electric vehicles and the transition to sustainable transportation.

Through innovative efforts, The Globe Group, 917Ventures, and Ayala Corporation continue to lead the way in using technology to improve the lives of Filipinos and protect the environment.
