Foodpanda Introduces Enhanced Sustainability Program to Fight Hunger and Improve Lives

Foodpanda, a leading online food and grocery platform, recently announced the extension of its flagship advocacy initiative, Let's Do Our Pau-rt! (LDOP), as part of its renewed commitment to fighting hunger and promoting sustainability. The news came as the firm released its 2021-2022 Corporate Social Advocacy Report, which documented the company's outreach initiatives and important programs during the previous two years, including those undertaken during the height of COVID lockdowns.

The expanded LDOP program, presented in late 2021, will continue to emphasize environmental conservation and community development as essential pillars while also combating hunger as one of its core goals. "By focusing on these main pillars, we are looking at a clearer path toward creating meaningful change in communities," stated Daniel Marogy, CEO of foodpanda Philippines. He went on to say that the company's goal is to have a more significant and more comprehensive influence, not only in the Philippines but globally.

Marogy emphasized that the LDOP's three pillars will cover major areas of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which were accepted by member countries, including the Philippines, in 2015. By 2030, the SDGs aim to end poverty, safeguard the environment, and promote global peace and prosperity.

Foodpanda has established numerous projects under the LDOP umbrella to combat hunger, including the ShareTheMeal program, a meal donation feature embedded into the foodpanda app that allows users to give meals after placing orders. The ShareTheMeal program, which was launched in collaboration with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), would aid local farmers in disaster-prone areas of the Philippines.

Foodpanda is collaborating with Scholars of Sustenance, a global food rescue organization, to donate food products from its pandamart grocery delivery service to communities in need, in addition to the app function. The company also intends to work with its partner restaurants to urge them to donate extra food.

Foodpanda executed significant measures to meet its social responsibility and sustainability goals from 2021 to 2022. These include encouraging biking as a safe and sustainable method of transportation, cooperating with the National Bicycle Organization (NBO), and creating job opportunities and resilient communities through its pandaBIZ program and the BuyAnihan Palengke project.

Marogy finished by underlining that foodpanda's previous and planned activities are both a continuation and a new beginning for the company's corporate social advocacy, with the goal of having a more substantial impact on society.
