The ability to replace items is a key part of Foodpanda's plan to expand to many markets in the Asia-Pacific area, such as Singapore and Malaysia. In the next few months, the business will offer this service in all 11 of its areas.
The cool new feature lets customers know when an item they bought is out of stock by sending them a push notification or text message. Then, the customer has five minutes to choose an alternative offering that works for them. Foodpanda's highly skilled pickers support this feature. They use real-time inventory data, customer preferences, and product specifications to make sure that the suggested replacements are a good match for the original item and meet the needs of the customer.

"Our goal is to continually improve the shopping experience for our customers," said Joseph Wijesekara, Director of Q-Commerce for foodpanda Philippines. With the new Item Replacement feature, we're even more committed to giving our customers the best service and making them happy. It ensures that our customers are given good alternatives when some products aren't accessible, which keeps them from having to deal with any problems.
A recent study by IHG said that retailers will lose an amazing $1.2 trillion by 2023 because of goods that are out of stock. Wijesekara pointed out that if out-of-stock items were replaced instead of being refunded right away, it could help FoodPanda's store partners avoid losing millions of dollars in sales every year.
At first, Foodpanda's supermarkets and grocery chains, such as Robinsons, Shopwise, and Marketplace, will be able to use the item replacement tool. In the coming months, more shops like Southstar Drug, Watsons, and Ever Supermarket will join.
