HONOR 200 Review; Disrupting the Mid-Range with Power and Affordability
INTRODUCTION:
There are so many new smartphones on the market that they are all vying for the same spot in people's pockets. In the very competitive mid-range market, makers have to find a way to combine great performance, appealing features, and low prices. It has a powerful processor, a full camera system, and a long-lasting battery, and it doesn't break the bank. The HONOR 200 easily steps into this competitive field. However, does it really live up to the big claims it makes? Let's find out in our HONOR 200 review and I hope it helps you decide if it's the right device for you.

DESIGN and DISPLAY:
The HONOR 200 is a great example of how well HONOR is known for making gadgets that look good. With smooth curves and delicate details like a faint waved pattern (for the Moonlight White and Emerald Green variants) on the plastic back, a silver-framed camera module, and a shiny body, it has a sophisticated and detailed look. The same is true with the black colorway, it may not be flashy, but still embodies the classic feel.

When I took the phone out of the box, I noticed right away how sleek it was. It fits easily into pockets at 7.7mm thin and light at 187g, even though it has a big 6.7-inch screen.

6.7-inch 120Hz OLED Display |
The display curves around the sides of the device without any gaps. The bezels are very thin, and the hole-punch-style front camera is in the middle of the top. Individuals have different tastes when it comes to curved screen edges, especially since flat screens are becoming more popular.

Volume Rocker and Power Button |
There is a power button, a volume rocker, and a USB-C port on the device's body. There isn't a headphone jack on it, though.

Loudspeaker, USB-C Port, Microphone, and Card Tray |
One thing we have to point out with the HONOR 200's design is that it doesn't have an official IP certification. This means that it isn't waterproof or dustproof, so you'll need to be careful when you handle it, especially outdoors this rainy season.

Speaker, IR Blaster, and Microphone |
It has a huge 6.7-inch OLED screen with FHD+ resolution (2664x1200 pixels). It's very bright, very clear, and very sharp. At its brightest, 4000 nits, it can be seen even in direct sunlight.
The screen worked perfectly whether I was taking and editing photos, streaming movies, or browsing online stores and social media. On Netflix, sight was never an issue, even when watching darker shows. High Dynamic Range (HDR) made it possible to see scenes that weren't well-lit and didn't blend into the background.
The HONOR 200 screen has a refresh rate of 120Hz, which makes scrolling and tapping very smooth. This will be especially helpful for games because the screen is so responsive. It also has an adaptive function that helps the battery last longer. Not all phones can handle this high frame rate.
There's an in-display fingerprint sensor that lets you unlock the phone. It worked well in my tests, but it would sometimes take about a second or so to react. Facial recognition can also be used as an option.
HONOR X7b Review; The Best in Budget Segment?
PERFORMANCE:
The powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor is at the heart of the HONOR 200. It was designed to make everyday jobs run smoothly. Many of us use our cell phones for a wide range of tasks, making this a popular choice. Using Waze or Grab to get through traffic jams or switching between social media apps like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok without any problems, the HONOR 200 offers a smooth experience.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 paired with 12GB of RAM can run famous mobile games like Call of Duty: Mobile or Mobile Legends: Bang Bang at medium to high graphics settings. This keeps frame rates stable, which is important for long gaming sessions, and ensures you have a good gaming experience.
Business owners and workers who use their phones for work can get what they need from the HONOR 200, not just games and social media. The phone's smooth performance makes it easy to switch between editing on Google Docs, running Zoom meetings, and managing your business's social media. The HONOR 200 can keep up with your busy Filipino lifestyle, whether you're juggling in a busy city like Manila or working from a beach in Boracay.
Here are the HONOR 200 benchmark results for reference.
- Antutu - 835,199
- Geekbench Single-Core - 1,185
- Geekbench Multi-Core - 3,397
- Geekbench Compute - 3,592
- PC Mark Work Performance 3.0 - 13,464
- PC Mark Work Storage 2.0 - 21,707
- 3D Mark Wild Life - 5,912
- 3D Mark Wild Life Stress Test - 5,898
- 3D Mark Wild Life Extreme - 1,594
- 3D Mark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test - 1,591
- 3D Mark Sling Shot - Maxed Out
- 3D Mark Sling Shot Extreme - Maxed Out
However, it's important to know that specs and scores don't tell the whole story. Filipino users should think about how they normally use their phones when judging the HONOR 200's speed. If you need top-of-the-line processing power for things like editing 4K movies or playing demanding graphics games at full settings, a premium flagship phone might be a better choice. On the other hand, the HONOR 200 is a strong contender for most Filipinos who want a reliable and powerful mid-range phone for daily use.
CAMERA:
The HONOR 200's camera is better than many of its rivals. This is based on both specs (like a high-resolution 2.5x optical zoom camera) and how well it works. There are a total of four modules, 3 on the back composed of 50MP f/2.0 PDAF OIS + 50MP f/2.4 PDAF 2.5x telephoto + 12MP AF ultrawide and 1 in the front that has 50MP f/2.1 snapper.

50MP Triple Camera |
I had many chances to take pictures of scenes with a lot of contrast, the high dynamic range (HDR) helped to smooth out scenes that would have been too bright or too dark otherwise. Additionally, the camera loads quickly, which is an advantage.

50MP Front Camera |
I was really surprised by how well the HONOR 200 could handle a lot of different situations, especially at night or in dark environments wherein you could take pictures in poor lighting conditions using only long exposures taken by hand. If it is good in the dark, it is pretty much better in daytime or in well-lit scenarios, factor in the different shooting modes, and you have great outputs anytime, anywhere.
The 2.5x optical zoom makes it possible to take zoom images without losing quality. It's not a huge zoom, but the sharpness is high, not to mention many rivals either don't have one or have a crop option that isn't as good. That's why the HONOR 200 holds its own when it comes to camera quality.

Harcourt Studio Filter |
What truly differentiates the HONOR 200 is its ability to replicate the stunning lighting effect of the Harcourt Studio. For many years, the Paris-based Harcourt Studio has been praised for its trademark portrait style, which features calm and flattering lighting that enhances face contours. The HONOR 200 duplicates this effect with advanced AI algorithms and software processing.
The HONOR 200 eliminates the need for a professional studio setup to capture the desired Harcourt-inspired pictures. The phone effectively distinguishes the subject from the background, resulting in a genuine bokeh effect. The AI software then makes precise lighting adjustments to mimic the Harcourt style's modest diffusion and soft shadows. This produces photographs that are both authentic and elegant, ideal for commemorating a special occasion or simply boosting your everyday selfies.

In terms of video capability, it can shoot up to 4K resolution and the gyro-EIS helps have a stable and good output event if you or the subject is moving.
HONOR X8b Review; Flagship-Like for Less the Price?
BATTERY:
The battery in the HONOR 200 is a 5200mAh one, which is slightly bigger than what many competitors give. But the extra 200mAh is not the main advantage, rather its composition - it is made of Silicon Carbon. During my review of this device, it worked perfectly and showed no signs of breaking down or unbearable hot surfaces even in heavy usage.
The battery lasts from early morning starts to late-night finishes with plenty of power left over. With the supplied 100W charger and cable, the phone can be quickly charged to nearly 60% of its battery juice in just 15 minutes.
