POCO F6 Review; POCO’s Still Got It
INTRODUCTION:
Popular smartphone brand POCO has proven itself worthy of local dominance with its capable yet affordable line of mobile phones. It might’ve been off the limelight for a while, but it doesn’t change the fact that POCO is among those on top when it comes to phone brand names. With the POCO F6, it proves that it still got what it takes to bring what a budget-savvy Filipino consumer needs. So let’s have a look at what it has to offer.
POCO F6 Review; POCO Still Got It |
DESIGN and DISPLAY:
Titanium |
Remember when budget smartphones used to have a form factor that tells how affordable they were? Luckily, smartphone brands are starting to veer away from this, and that includes POCO. The POCO F6 feels good in the hands, and while it’s still mostly made out of plastic materials, it does have an eye-catching factor with its shiny and smooth rear surface with a frosted glass finish and curved edges.
6.67-inch Flow AMOLED 120Hz Display |
Going back to the overall look and feel of the POCO F6: the bezels on its screen are quite thin, which gives it a great 94.27% screen-to-body ratio that further emphasizes its 6.67-inch 1.5K Flow AMOLED DotDisplay. Furthermore, its screen is more than ample to enjoy multimedia consumption, and gaming with its 2712 x 1220 resolution gives off solid colors and sharp details fitting to the device’s price point. Plus, POCO's display offers hardware-level low-blue light certification with up to 1920Hz PWM dimming. Moreover, it is topped with Corning Gorilla Victus that is resistant to falls and scratches.
Volume Keys and Power Button |
On the right cheek of this smartphone sits its volume keys and the power button, while on the left side has nothing on it.
Loudspeaker, USB-C Port, Microphone, and Card Tray |
At the bottom is the SIM tray with two slots for nano SIMs, sadly none for microSD card, along with the microphone, USB Type-C port, and loudspeaker.
Loudspeaker, Microphone, and IR Blaster |
Meanwhile, the top side holds another set of mic and speaker together with the IR blaster.

PERFORMANCE:
Xiaomi, or shall I say POCO equipped the POCO F6 with a chip that’s aimed not only for gaming but for everything high-end. With the top-of-the-line Qualcomm SM8635 Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip combined with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB of onboard storage, this smartphone is up to be an ideal buddy for multitasking. Switching between various apps for social media, productivity, gaming, and multimedia on the POCO F6 didn’t give us any hiccups, which is expected for a phone with this caliber.
IP64-Certified, Dust and Water Resistant |
Since the Qualcomm SM8635 Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is also a gaming-centric CPU, it’s not surprising that the POCO F6 can carry some of the demanding mobile games like Call of Duty Mobile in high graphics settings. Moreover, it took quite a while before we felt the device heat up.
The POCO F6 comes with Android 14 out of the box with Xiaomi's Hyper OS on top. Unfortunately, bloatware is still present, but you can always uninstall some of the apps you don’t need in just a few taps. In addition, its user interface is friendly and customizable, adding to a smooth ride when using the POCO F6 for light to heavy tasks.
Of course, in today's era of AI, POCO F6 has it too. It is equipped with a plethora of intelligent sensing capabilities, giving you the opportunity to fully experience the comfort brought about by cutting-edge technology. These include POCO AI air gestures, Smart lock detection, Smart AOD, and Smart rotating screen.

CAMERA:
When POCO smartphones started gaining traction among local tech consumers, it was mostly because of how capable they are, including their cameras, despite their economical price tags. With the POCO F6, the brand again didn’t disappoint when it comes to its imaging prowess.
50MP Sony IMX882 Dual-Rear Cameras |
The dual-rear cameras of the POCO F6 -- consisting of a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 with f/1.59 ultra-large aperture + 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, plus ring LED flash -- deliver more than decent shots. There are almost no visible issues in color saturation and hazy details, thanks to its P3 colour gamut Hypercolour imaging, lights, and shadows are more realistic too.
For its selfie camera, the 20-megapixel front snapper of the POCO F6 is impressively good at shooting self-portraits indoors. It captures just the right details and comes with face beauty modes that you can use according to your liking. Outdoors and under well-lit environments, selfies are even better. For videos, the said smartphone can do 4K video recording with a fairly good dynamic range and motion tracking.

BATTERY LIFE:
As mentioned earlier in this review, the POCO F6 has a generous 5,000mAh battery. We were able to use this smartphone for more than a day with mostly moderate tasks and some gaming. In our video loop test, the POCO F6 lasted for 10 hours and 13 minutes.
The POCO F6 does not support wireless charging, but it offers super fast wired charging of 90W. Standard charging through its USB-C port, only took us 42 minutes to fully charge it to 100% from 19%. In addition, it also employs AI, such as Anti-burn protection and Long charge protection.
CONCLUSION:
The POCO F6, with all its ups and downs, is undeniably yet another strong offering from the popular brand. For only P19,999 (promo price), you can already get all its befitting features, so what’s not to like, right?
