Another plus is that the Redmi Note 17 doesn’t demand too much caution during everyday use. The device comes with several durability features, including Corning Gorilla Glass 7i to help protect the display from everyday scratches caused by keys and coins in your pocket. We mentioned earlier that the Redmi Note 17 is a tall device, and that form factor works in its favor when it comes to the display. Its 6.99-inch AMOLED screen takes center stage, offering an immersive viewing experience with immersive display quality.
The larger screen is a noticeable advantage, especially when binge-watching videos, reading articles, editing files, or simply scrolling through social media. The extra screen real estate makes content easier to view and gives you more room to work with.

Colors on the Redmi Note 17 are vivid, while details remain sharp and well-defined. Its refresh rate can also be set to 120Hz, making scrolling and animations feel noticeably smoother. For video streaming, YouTube playback goes up to 1080p. While it’s not the highest resolution available, it’s more than enough for a crisp and enjoyable viewing experience.
Audio comes from a single down-firing speaker, and volume is decent at around 70%. Push it closer to the 200% maximum, however, and the sound starts to lose its clarity, with noticeable distortion creeping in.

Performance:
The Redmi Note 17 works well as an everyday smartphone, especially for routine tasks like reading and replying to messages, scrolling through social media, binge-watching videos, and light gaming. For these day-to-day activities, its performance feels reliable and capable. However, once you move into more demanding tasks and heavier gaming, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset starts to show its limitations.
Storage, however, isn’t much of a concern. The Redmi Note 17 retains something that many other smartphones are already leaving behind: a microSD card slot. Its 256GB of built-in storage can be expanded by up to 2TB, giving you plenty of extra room for photos, videos, apps, and other files. Its 6GB RAM also keeps things reasonably smooth when jumping between everyday apps.

Aside from a handful of pre-installed apps, Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 on the Redmi Note 17 feels straightforward and intuitive. Camera:
A single-camera setup in 2026 may seem like an unusual choice, but the Redmi Note 17’s lone 50-megapixel main camera can still produce decent photos in good lighting. Images come out reasonably detailed, with colors that are generally pleasing when there’s enough sunlight. Night photography, however, is where the camera shows its limitations, with less accurate colors and a noticeable drop in detail and sharpness.

Its 16-megapixel front camera sounds capable on paper, but the actual results are less impressive. Portraits tend to look noticeably soft, with details appearing as though a subtle blur filter has been applied.
For video recording, the max resolution is 1080p HD at 30 fps for the rear camera and 720p HD at 30 fps for the front camera.

Battery:
The Redmi Note 17 is a battery beast, thanks to its massive 7,700mAh battery. In our PCMark Battery 3.0 test, it lasted 17 hours and 17 minutes, with 19% battery still remaining at the end of the benchmark.

In actual use, the battery performance was just as impressive. We spent more than four hours binge-watching podcasts on YouTube, and the Redmi Note 17 only dropped from 100% to 92% during that time. That kind of endurance makes it a reliable companion for long days away from the charger.
The bundled 45W charger brought the Redmi Note 17 back to 100% in 1 hour and 18 minutes—a decent turnaround for a 7,700mAh battery.
