The Android One platform is a system created by Google to address fragmentation, hardware standards and provide high quality devices for the masses. In the Philippines, the Cherry Mobile One is pioneering smartphone to have that mechanism.

The Cherry Mobile One sports a 4.5-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with FWVGA resolution, which translates to 196 PPI. On the inside, it boasts a 1.3GHz quad core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

As a standard for all Android One mobile phones, it runs on the latest, close to stock configuration of Android, which is Android 5.1 Lollipop. In addition, it will receive software updates directly from Google for at least two years, which means it will be one of the first devices to have Android M this year.

You can check our hands-on and unboxing video below.

Based on our initial test, it scored about 20K in Antutu and around 5.5K in Quadrant benchmarks. It also has a multi-touch feature and can support up to 4 fingers. Meanwhile, navigation through the interface is very fluid, this maybe because of the latest Android version and very minimal applications installed. Speaking of apps, all of the are from Google, except for the eWarranty from Cherry Mobile. In fact, some of the basic tools such as a file explorer are not even installed. Other things we worth mentioning are the lack of OTG support and apps cannot be moved/transferred to SD card.

As early as now, we can say that the Cherry Mobile One is a very snappy device with good build quality and a reasonable price tag.
