Pre-installed applications

It runs on 64-bit Windows 8.1 Single Language and upgradable to Windows 10. The above screenshots are the default home screen, desktop screen as well as the pre-installed applications.

The Intel Core i5-5200U is an ultra low voltage processor based on 14nm process, it has two CPU cores with hyper-threading technology clocked at 2.2GHz up to 2.7GHz each. Although, the chipset has integrated GPU (Intel HD Graphics 5500), Acer still added a dedicated one, which is the NVIDIA GeForce 940M with 2GB of DDR3 memory. It is based on Maxwell architecture and manufactured in 28nm process.

In real life usage, these combinations are more than sufficient for office works and multimedia consumptions as well as handling more demanding applications. In terms of gaming, it can handle most 2014 and early 2015 games (like FIFA14) in high graphics properly while more demanding games (like Assassin's Creed) are still playable as long as the graphics settings are set in minimum to medium. Meanwhile, the 4GB of RAM is enough for the usual multitasking and if you are heavy user, it has two memory slots and you can upgrade up to 16GB of DDR3L RAM. By the way, the boot up time only takes about 9 seconds.

It has a 37Wh 2500mAh 14.8V 4-cell Lithium Ion battery pack. We run our usual battery test by looping a video while in airplane mode and the brightness is set to 50 percent and it lasted for about 7.5 hours before the system hibernates (less than 5% battery left). Meanwhile, using it as my work laptop, which compose of mostly sending emails, creating office documents and few drawings, the battery life ranges 7 to 10 hours.

The Acer Aspire E14 is a great desktop-replacement laptop, it has a nice looking exterior, loaded with useful features, strong battery life and above average gaming performance. Overall, it has an impressive internals that can do a lot of things.
