DESIGN:

Urbanears Humlan Review: Wash and Listen

Urbanears is very clever to come up with washable concept and this idea is very useful too. The headband cover and the ear cushions are removable, so if they become sweaty and untidy, just put them in the laundry bag, then toss to your washing machine and poof, no more funky smell. The former can be removed by undoing the two buttons located on each end while you need to unsnap the latter.

The headband itself is solid yet still flexible enough to ensure that the headphone will snugly fit to anyone's head. The ear caps have an adjustable frame and they feel very comfortable once they are in your ears.

Like the Urbanears Kransen, it also has an inline microphone and remote, which means that aside from listening to your favorite musics, you can also use to to answer calls for hands-free talking.

If you think that the wash and wear thing is the only feature of this headphone, then you are wrong, there is another one called ZoundPlug. It is a 3.5mm audio socket found on the right ear cap that lets you share the song you are listening to by plugging an additional headset/earphone/headphone.

PERFORMANCE and VERDICT:

I am not a sound engineer (and even though I studied acoustics back in college days, I cannot recall most of them) nor an audiophile, but when it comes to audio output I can tell which one is good and which one is bad. For the Urbanears Humlan, I can say that it has nice sound quality and great audio reproduction, even if you crank up the volume. I used different musics of different genre and my overall observation is that it produces sounds that are sweet and crisp, but with less bass (or shall I say it has bass, but won't pound or hammer your ears).
