| Samsung, Smart Users Now Enjoy Better LTE Connectivity in Boracay |
As Smart continues to roll out its LTE and LTE-Advanced network upgrades in the Philippines, Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ users are now enjoying an elevated mobile data experience in Boracay through Smart LTE.
In partnership with Huawei Technologies Philippines, Smart is able to activate its 4-component carrier (4CC) aggregation in the country’s famed tourist destination. In its initial runs, Smart recorded average speeds of 280Mbps using test software on the 4CC carrier aggregation-capable smartphones in the market – the Galaxy S8 and S8+.

Moreover, initial tests have also reached speeds of up to 400 to 500Mbps via 4x4 MIMO and 256 QAM technologies in a live and loaded network, still using Samsung’s latest flagship devices. These technologies help increase speed and bandwidth, and could quadruple data transmission rates.
PLDT and Smart Senior Vice President of Network Planning and Engineering Mario Tamayo claims that it’s just a preview of what it's current network can achieve, which in turn will provide better mobile data experience to consumers.
However, please be mindful that achieving this ultra fast connection speed is still device-dependent. And, at the moment there are only a few devices that are available in the market that could run these technologies, including the Galaxy S8 and S8+.
