Huawei has unveiled its latest flagship smartphones – the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro. With a thin borderline separating the two, the Pro version still manages to offer some upgrades from the Mate 10.

The Huawei Mate 10 sports a 5.9-inch Quad HD LCD display, while the Huawei Mate 10 Pro flaunts a bigger 6-inch Full HD+ OLED display. It also gives a narrower 18:9 aspect ratio compared to the Mate 10’s 16:9. Unfortunately, a bigger screen size doesn’t assure you with a higher resolution. The Mate 10 offers 2560 x 1440 resolutions with a pixel density of 499 pixels per inch, while the Mate 10 Pro only boasts 2160 x 1080 resolutions with a lower pixel density of 402 pixels per inch.

Meanwhile, both phones have similar designs, as the two smartphones showcase a glass back with curved sides, giving a premium-looking appearance to the handsets. However, the two models have different color variations available.

Inside its body is the same Kirin 970 chip. It is powered by four Cortex A73 clocked at 2.3GHz, four Cortex A53 clocked at 1.8GHz and i7 co-processor paired with Mali-G72 MP12 GPU. No difference with the Mate 10, at all. Keeping this on our mind, both phones are able to perform AI-related tasks with the support of Neural Processing Unit (NPU).

On the other hand, the Mate 10 Pro is available with a bigger memory. It is equipped with up to 6GB LPDDR4 of RAM, and up to 128GB ROM. However, the Pro variant lacks storage expansion, which simply means users have to deal with its native storage. Moreover, it also does not have a headphone jack, but USB type-C to 3.5mm adapter is included in the package.

The Mate 10 and Pro have the same camera setup, though. Both are equipped with 20-megapixel Monochrome + 12-megapixel RGB rear cameras with f/1.6 lenses. It comes with an 8-megapixel front camera with an f/2.0 aperture, too.

One of its distinctions, however, is the location of its fingerprint sensor. The Mate 10’s fingerprint sensor is located below the screen, while the Pro’s fingerprint sensor is situated at the back. If you think that this is only a matter of a not-so-important preference, then, the Mate 10 Pro is IP67 certified water and dust resistant – a thing that the Mate 10 failed to offer.

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is priced at EUR 799 or about 48,300 pesos when converted directly, while there are no words yet about its local availability and pricing.
