PH Team Wins in Epson Regional App Challenge 2018 |
Emerging from a pool of 56 teams from Southeast Asia, MobileMINDS bested out three other finalists to clinch the first runner-up title, placing next to the team from Indonesia who was named as the champion.
Intended to stir inventive minds, the Epson Regional App Challenge aims to encourage young developers to create mobile Point of Sale (mPOS) solutions within the Independent Software Vendor (ISV) community, and to increase interest in mPOS products. The finalists were instructed to develop an application which will use a receipt printer that will reduce operational cost of business while bolstering productivity at the same time.

Through the said competition, Epson also aims to contribute to the growth of the developer community that supports receipt printers.
The Indonesian team comprised of Lazuardi Widya Adyafora and Ibnu Isnaini Hakim, developed the app called ‘Wartal’ which is designed for Indonesian small family warung shops to connect directly to manufacturers and to help the manage the delivery of goods, and track transactions with customers. When paired with a mobile receipt printer, Wartal will allow shops to automatically issue receipts to customers upon scanning the purchased item.
The Philippine team represented by Jason Russ Unson and Miguel Luis Ting, on the other hand, made the ‘Rover Fieldmate’ which is intended to help laundry businesses digitalize the process of their services from pick up to delivery. Also with the use of a mobile receipt printer, the app allows issuance of receipts and tags for laundry labeling for customers.
The winners were awarded with cash prizes plus the Epson Moverio BT-300 Smartglasses.
