To begin the fight between the OPPO F9 and Honor Play, let’s talk about their physique first. The F9 comes with a more stylish design through its Sunrise Red and Twilight Blue variants that feature a petal-like pattern on its back. It also has a Starry Purple Limited Edition model that flaunts a star-like effect. Moreover, these models would make you a total head-turner as different viewing angles bring flashy color treatment to the device. Meanwhile, Honor equipped its handset with a simpler and classic design.
Moving on to its display, both handsets are packed with a 6.3-inch notched Full HD+ panel. Nevertheless, OPPO came up with more tricks as the F9 sports a smaller one dubbed as the “waterdrop” notch, while the Honor Play offers a conventional rectangular notch on top of its screen.

To bounce back, under the hood, the Honor Play carries a flagship Kirin 970 chipset that is usually found on expensive smartphones, such as the Huawei P20 line and Mate 10 series. It is complemented with a Mali-G72 MP12 graphics with GPU Turbo support, as well. Hence, if you’re a gamer and actually looking for a new mobile gear, these offerings would surely invite you to spend bucks for it.
However, you can still consider getting the F9 as it is powered by Helio P60 octa-core processor that is also good for gaming. In addition, it has a bigger 6GB of RAM compared with the Honor Play’s 4GB RAM. On the other hand, both handsets come with a 64GB internal storage that is expandable up to 256GB. Unfortunately, Honor didn’t equip its pick with a dedicated slot for a MicroSD card, which means that you need to use its SIM 2 slot if you wish to expand its storage.
OPPO was able to get another point for having a better camera design, at least in terms of aperture and resolution, too. It boasts a dual-rear camera setup composed of 16-megapixel f/1.8 + 2-megapixel f/2.4 sensors. For selfie, it also has the better 25-megapixel f/2.0 snapper that features AI Beautification.

Powering up the OPPO F9 is a more generous 3500mAh Li-Po non-removable battery that supports VOOC Flash Charge. This promises to give 2 hours of talk time in just 5 minutes of charging. The Honor Play is also geared with a good 3250mAh juice with fast charging, though.
The F9 and Honor Play both run on Android 8.1 Oreo O.S with ColorOS 5.2 and EMUI 8.2 on top, respectively.
Both now available in the local shores, the OPPO F9 is priced at Php17,990, while the Honor Play is Php2K cheaper with its asking price of just Php15,990.
