PHYSICAL:
The realme X3 SuperZoom draws a lot of inspirations with the realme 6 Pro, at least in terms of looks or physical appearance, or shall we say physical measurements. Yes, both phones measure precisely the same - 163.8mm x 75.8mm x 8.9mm, and they weigh exactly the same too - 202 grams.
realme X3 SuperZoom and realme 6 Pro 6.6-inch Full HD+ Ultra Smooth FullScreen Display |
But that's not all, both devices facades are identical as well. Both have a 6.6-inch Full HD+ Ultra Smooth FullScreen display, albeit the X3 SuperZoom has a better 120Hz refresh rate as compared to 90Hz of the 6 Pro. This means that it offers a more immersive display, giving users more enjoyable gameplay and viewing experience.
Both handsets also have dual in-display selfie cameras, and when you flip the phone over, both also have rear-mounted 64MP AI Quad Cameras, all of which are positioned in the same locations too.
That said, by just simply looking at the front of these two devices, you cannot tell which is which. In fact, you can actually interchange their free case included in the retail box, although using the X3 SuperZoom case to the 6 Pro will cover its LED flash.
realme X3 SuperZoom and realme 6 Pro Back Designs |
The main differentiator when it comes to their aesthetics is their back design. The flagship's back cover is simpler yet still elegant-looking, It is still made of glass, but realme used high-precision abrasive etching technology to make it anti-glare and resistant to fingerprint smudges.
It is not the first time that realme upcycled the parts from their other devices. We have seen this with the realme 6i, which also has identical dimensions as the realme C3 and realme 5i. This kind of strategy allows them to price their devices lower as they do not need to spend on new molds, parts, and equipment. And so far, realme was very successful with this kind of strategy.
3D Quad-Curved Anti-Glare Fingerprint-Proof Glass |
Going through the sides, the top has the secondary microphone. The right side holds the power button that doubles as the fingerprint sensor, just like the realme 6 and 6 Pro. The bottom has the loudspeaker grille, USB Type-C port, primary microphone, and the card tray. Meanwhile, the left side has the volumes keys.
Fingerprint Sensor / Power Button |
Speaking of card tray, it supports two Nano-SIM cards, but it is not a hybrid type, which simply means there is no slot for MicroSD card for storage expansion. Thankfully, the X3 SuperZoom is equipped with a massive 256GB of internal storage, which for us, is already huge enough to store lots of apps, games, and files.
By the way, it does not have a 3.5mm audio jack anymore, so if you are going to use wired earphones, it should have a USB Type-C connector, or you need to use a 3.5mm to USB-C adapter. Or better yet, you can use wireless earphones or earbuds, just like the realme Buds Air Neo.

SOFTWARE:
The realme X3 SuperZoom runs on realme UI 1.0 based on Android 10. It is precisely the same software found in other recent realme devices such as 6-series and C3. We have discussed this numerous times, so we won't be detailing it more.
Software |
If you need to learn more about realme UI, you can read our previous reviews of realme smartphones, or visit https://www.realme.com/in/realme-ui.
PERFORMANCE:
Under the hood, the realme X3 SuperZoom is powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset that is based on the 7nm FinFET process. It has an octa-core Kryo 485 CPU that clocks up to 2.96GHz paired with 700MHz Adreno 640 graphics. It also has industry-leading 12-gigabytes of RAM, making it one of the few phones that have such amount of volatile memory. These combinations will surely provide a powerful and smooth overall performance.
CPU-Z Info |
As usual, we installed and run our favorite benchmarking applications, and below are the results:
Benchmark Comparison Table:
Benchmark | Huawei P40 Pro | Vivo Nex 3 | realme X3 SuperZoom |
Antutu | 465,097 | 497,439 | 491,884 |
Geekbench 5 (Single-Core) | 751 | 765 | 787 |
Geekbench 5 (Multi-Core) | 2,287 | 2,644 | 2,583 |
Geekbench 5 (RenderScript) | 3,726 | 2,877 | 2,892 |
PC Mark | 9,393 | 9,446 | 11,566 |
3D Mark Sling Shot | 3,953 | 7,960 | 6,244 |
3D Mark Sling Shot (Vulcan) | 3,365 | 5,335 | 4,676 |
3D Mark Sling Shot (OpenGL) | 5,595 | 6,082 | 5,268 |
As you can see in the above table, the scores are pretty much similar to that of the more expensive devices, the Huawei P40 Pro, which is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G chip, and the Vivo Nex 3, which is also powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset. This simply means that the X3 SuperZoom is as much as powerful as these two devices. But that's not all, it has more RAM, again 12GB, as compared to only 8GB of the other two phones, which technically gives it more when it comes to multitasking capabilities.
In real-life performance, it is indeed snappy and buttery smooth in everything we throw at it. Whether its graphics-intensive games at high settings or resources-hungry applications, all of which run very fluid without lags or any hiccups. By the way, we have played Mobile Legends, PUBG Mobile, Asphalt 9, CODM, and NBA2K20.
However, we noticed something, the phone gets a little bit warm when playing continuously. We recorded as high as 49.3C when we played for more than an hour. But, it does not stay that hot for long, it seems that the processing capability throttled slightly to ensure that the phone remains within the operating temperature. Nonetheless, even at this point, it stills performs smoothly.
We get a little curious about the throttling performance, so we did a little experiment. We run Antutu Benchmark several times, and it scored around 460K to 490K until it reached 49.1C. After that, the scores went down to 330K to 370K, but the temperature got a little cooler at 40.7C. The ratings are still way higher than the 280K mark of the realme 6 and 6 Pro, which has MediaTek Helio G90T and Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G, respectively.
CAMERA:
Aside from the top-of-the-line display, chipset, and memory, the realme X3 SuperZoom also offers high-end camera and camera features. It has a total of 6 camera modules, there are 4 in the back and 2 in the front.
64MP AI Quad Cameras |
The rear-mounted cameras are composed of Samsung GW1 64MP primary module with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP f/2.3 119-degree ultrawide lens, a 2MP f/2.4 dedicated module for taking macro shots, and an 8MP f/3.4 periscope-style telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. In the front, there is a 32MP Sony IMX616 main module and an 8MP f/2.2 105-degree ultrawide lens.
32MP Dual In-Display Selfie Cameras |
Impressive hardware is nothing if there is no equally remarkable software. That is why realme packs the X3 SuperZoom with tons of features, such as 60x Hybrid Zoom, Nightscape 4.0, Ultra Nightscape Mode, UIS Stabilization, UIS Max Stabilizations Real-Time Boked Effect, and 960fps Slo-mo to name a few.

Portrait Selfie |
The realme X3 SuperZoom offers stunning image qualities both on day time and night time, And with its 6 cameras, it gives the users lots of flexibility and creativity on how they would like to compose their shots.
The 60x SuperZoom is quite an impressive feat by realme. As you can see in the image above, anyone that knows Mayor Isko Moreno can quickly identify him in the billboard, and that's the power of 60x hybrid zoom.
Meanwhile, shots at night are very much usable too, even if the images were taken at normal mode. The outputs improve a lot when night mode is used, which usually takes about 3 to 5 seconds to finish. If in case you have your tripod with you, we highly suggest using the Tripod Night Mode as it gives the best results at night or in dark environments. Albeit, you need to be a little patient when using it as each shot takes about 40 seconds, more or less.
As for the Starry Night Mode, tripod and more patience are required as one single shot takes about 4 minutes and 30 seconds to finish. As the name suggests, it is something you can use when capturing dark skies and stars.

CONNECTIVITY:
The realme X3 SuperZoom is a dual-SIM, dual-standby phone with multiple LTE bands. Yes, it still does not comes with 5G connectivity, but for us, it is pretty much OK since 5G signals are still limited at this point. Nonetheless, 5G would have been great.
As for the WiFi connection, it has 2*2 MIMO Wi-Fi Antenna with 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands. The Bluetooth version is 5.0, it also has NFC, and for the wired connection, it has USB 2.0 Type-C. In addition, it also has dual-frequency GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, QZSS, NAVIC, and Galileo for its location services.
BATTERY:
The X3 SuperZoom is equipped with a 4,200mAh battery capacity. It is 100mAh smaller than the realme 6 and 6 Pro, but it garnered the highest PC Mark Battery Life score, which is 18 hours and 30 minutes, as compared to 11 hours and 13 minutes of the 6, and 14 hours and 12 minutes of the 6 Pro. It is also actually even longer by 40 minutes when compared to realme C3's 17 hours and 50 minutes that has a 5,000mAh battery.
As for refueling the battery cell, realme advertised that it can be fully charged in just 55 minutes. However, we never achieved that after 3 tests. At 55 minutes, the battery was at 93% capacity, which for us is still quite fast. At 62 minutes, it was already at 99% percent, but for some reason, it needed 6 more minutes to complete the 100%. Yes, it is not as fast as advertised, but it is still pretty fast.
FINAL WORDS:
We have been using the realme X3 SuperZoom for more than a week now, and we can say that it looks, feels, and performs as expected - a high-end device. It has an immersive display complemented by very powerful internals and great sets of cameras.
