Newer smartphone models, particularly those under the higher mid-range and flagship segment, are nowadays released without the 3.5mm headphone jack. This increases the need for Bluetooth earphones or headphones, especially for heavy streaming and entertainment users. When talking about wireless personal audio devices, what most people have on top of their minds are usually the offerings of mainstream brands like Huawei, Xiaomi, JBL, Bose, and Marshall, to name a few. But with the diverse options available in the market, one need not to look far for a good find from a relatively underrated name. An example of this is the SoundPEATS TrueAir2. These sub-Php3K TWS earphones can be your next audio buddy! Here are reasons why.

DESIGN AND BUILD
The earphones of the SoundPEATS True Air 2 reminds us of Apple’s AirPods, while its charging case looks similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro. What we like to emphasize first about this pair of true wireless earphones is how ergonomic and easy it is to use. Wearing it for hours doesn’t bring any uncomfortable feeling to the ears as the pair is lightweight. Its charging case, which has a compact mirror-like design, is also portable enough and can be slid easily in jean pockets.
Unit and Charging Case |
The SoundPEATS TrueAir2 doesn’t have silicone earbuds as it comes with an open-air design, so if you’re the type of audiophile who doesn’t like the feel and pressure of rubber earbuds on your ears, give extra brownie points to the SoundPEATS TrueAir2. The earphones also have a minimalist design with only the SoundPEATS emblem placed on top of its touch controls sensor. The same symbol can be found at the charging case, which also has a USB-C port and an LED indicator light on its right cheek. The charging case where the earphones sit has markings that indicate which is the right earphone and which is the left one. The magnetic closing mechanism of the charging case also adds durability. Overall, the build of the SoundPEATS TrueAir 2 makes it look premium and expensive.
Retail Package |
Its package contents come with the standard inclusions -- the earphones, charging case, USB-C charging cable, and the usual paper documents.
PERFORMANCE
We have reviewed the SoundPEATS Truengine III SE and the SoundPEATS TrueFree2, and we’re fairly impressed both with their overall design and performance, so we have quite an expectation in trying out the SoundPEATS TrueAir2, and we’re glad that this pair delivered. In terms of sound quality, the earphones gave us a pleasant sound, and its 14.2mm drivers produced an outstanding bass enough to impress the bass heads.
Its lower frequencies are clear while the lower mids are decently conveyed. For those who are a fan of instrumental songs, the SoundPEATS TrueAir2 will work to your liking, as playing instruments in a balanced manner is definitely a strength for this pair. We also appreciate how even with the volume set beyond 80%, the SoundPEATS TrueAir2 didn't once give us a brittle sound. Long story short, the SoundPEATS TrueAir2 can be at par with TWS offered at higher prices when it comes to overall sound quality.
Another laudable part of the SoundPEATS TrueAir2 is that it carries the latest Qualcomm QCC3040 built-in chip, which does a very efficient job of providing optimized Bluetooth transmission, resulting in a stronger connection. In a more simplified sense, this means that the SoundPEATS TrueAir2 can deliver higher quality audio wirelessly.
However, it’s kind of a bummer that the SoundPEATS TrueAir2 only comes with a 7-meter range instead of the usual 10 meters offered by other TWS models. But one thing we like about this pair is that users can listen to music with just one earbud, and it works perfectly when used with both the left and the right earphones.
Here comes the icing on the cake: the SoundPEATS TrueAir2 also comes with pretty good noise cancellation on top of its dual-mic feature. Testing it out on calls proved that it can lessen the sound of background noises like moving vehicles. This is a very much needed feature, especially now that video calls and online meetings are often done.
The touch controls of the SoundPEATS TrueAir2 are responsive; although similar to other TWS, they can be oversensitive at times. The controls are easy to remember: tap the right earbud once to increase the volume and do the opposite with a single tap on the left earbud. Tapping either of the earphones twice will pause or play a track while doing this three times will summon your voice assistant. There's also the option to skip the current track (long press on the right earbud) and to return to a previous song (long press on the left earbud) which is not common with most TWS.
BATTERY LIFE
The LED light next to the USB-C port of the charging case we mentioned earlier, unfortunately, only indicates the charging status of the case and not how much battery life is left. The battery life of the earbuds themselves, meanwhile, can be checked on the connected device. The charging case can refuel the earbuds up to four times before it gets fully drained. In terms of charging time, the case took us a little over two hours to be full, while an hour and a half are allotted for the earphones to reach 100% battery life again.
The advertised 25-hour battery is close to reality as we’re able to use the earphones for a combined duration of 23 hours. The charging case of the SoundPEATS TrueAir2 gives the earphones an additional 4 hours of playtime.
