DESIGN and DISPLAY:

One could easily mistake the realme 10 for a mid-range device with a close-to-flagship price tag. It’s undeniably premium-looking with its shiny mirror-like rear slate with a gradient light particle design, not to mention its beautifully placed back camera modules and curved rear edges. Apart from its gorgeous form, the realme 10 also feels good in the hand – it’s light and compact enough for one-hand use. However, with its glossy rear case comes fingerprints and smudges, so it’s advisable to use the realme 10 with a protective case on. We suggest using a clear one, though, because really, the back design of this smartphone is something that you should flaunt and not cover. There is also Gorilla Glass protection planted on the realme 10, if that's now enough, the device comes with a screen protector out of the box.

For buttons and ports, the realme 10 has the regulars: a power button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner along with the volume keys on the right side, a SIM card tray with slots for two nano-SIM cards as well as a microSD card on the left cheek, and the primary microphone, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C port, and down-firing speaker grille at the bottom.

The realme 10 is almost all-screen – save for its quite thick chin, but the smartphone has thin bezels on all its other sides. It’s got a big 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED with 360Hz touch sampling rate and 90Hz refresh rate. The colors are vibrant, and the details are clear. Using the smartphone outdoors and under direct sunlight is also great.

We enjoyed using the realme 10 on many things, especially in watching our favorite shows on Netflix, and what serves as a cherry on top is how good its speakers are, too. They’re loud enough to fill an entire room, and there isn’t any shaky audio when the volume is set even beyond 50 percent thanks to its Hi-Res 200% UltraBoom Speaker.

realme 10 Retail Package
Retail Package

For the retail package, it contains the essentials - 33W charger, USB-C cable, pre-installed plastic film, silicon case, pin ejector needle, and documents. There is no headset of anykind in the box, but we are accustom to that as realme haven't include one for quite sometime now.

PERFORMANCE:

The realme 10 works with an Android 12 operating system with the realme UI 3.0. If you’ve been a realme user before, this UI should be familiar to you, and you might’ve been accustomed to how smooth and easy it is to use. Like other realme smartphones, the realme 10 allows the tweaking of font size and styles, icon look, and a lot more customization features. Another familiar stuff that comes with the realme 10 is bloatware. There are pre-installed applications that most likely you wouldn’t be using, so it’s best just to uninstall them to free up some memory and space.

RAM comes only in one option for the realme 10, which is 8GB. Users can increase it up to 16GB, thanks to its Dynamic RAM capability. A MediaTek Helio G99 chipset with 2.2GHz octa-core CPUs and dual-core ARM Mali-G57 GPU are working alongside this to power up the phone. For storage, you either have 128GB or 256GB. This set of specs might look standard to you, but what the realme 10 has on paper is more impressive in real-life usage.

For reference, here are the realme 10 benchmark results.
  • Antutu - 397,095
  • Geekbench Single-Core - 567
  • Geekbench Multi-Core - 1,757
  • Geekbench Compute - 1,680
  • PC Mark Work Performance 3.0 - 10,245
  • PC Mark Work Storage 2.0 - 24,249
  • 3D Mark Wild Life - 1,367
  • 3D Mark Wild Life Stress Test - 1,371
  • 3D Mark Wild Life Extreme - 376
  • 3D Mark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test - 381
  • 3D Mark Sling Shot - 3,695
  • 3D Mark Sling Shot Extreme - 2,753

We used the realme 10 as our main driver for over two weeks, and we can only say good things about this device. Our time with the realme 10 is smooth and seamless – whether it be about switching between multiple apps on a hectic day or wasting the hours away just binge-watching on Netflix or gaming.

What made the experience even better are the realme 10’s 90Hz refresh rate which made launching applications and scrolling through the smartphone a breeze, and its extended 8GB RAM that provides more space for the realme 10 to breathe and to accommodate demanding tasks without any lags or stutters or whatsoever.

CAMERAS:

The cameras of the realme 10 are amazing too. It is equipped with a 50-megapixel main and 2-megapixel depth, which seems to be the standard formula of cameras that realme (and other smartphone brands) equips its budget-friendly devices.

What you can expect from the realme 10’s cameras: great colors, sharp details, and notable depth. Safe to say that the photos captured by realme 10 are the Instagram-ready kind. Plus, the smartphone has a Dazzle AI feature that functions as a chroma boost, meaning it makes the colors pop even more, but without making the photos look over-saturated. Digital zoom is available up to 10x. This is something you can utilize in place of a wide-angle sensor.

Night shooting, meanwhile, is hit-or-miss with the realme 10. Some photos look OK, while some came out cloudy. The key is to turn on Night Mode and have steady hands. With these, you’ll get a nice night shot with just the right amount of sharpness and colors.

For selfies, the realme 10 can give you natural-looking photos under well-lit environments, but it’s a different story in low-lit conditions.

The realme 10 has an ultra-steady mode available for taking videos up to 1080p at 60fps. There is also a FILM mode, which is like the PRO mode of taking stills, but for videos.

BATTERY LIFE:

With a 5,000mAh battery, the realme 10 can keep up with moderate to heavy usage for almost a day. It has a 33W SUPERVOOC Charge and the retail package comes with an 11V/3A charger. It took 31 minutes for the realme 10’s battery to get to 50% and another 40 minutes to be fully charged again.

In our video loop test, we played a video non-stop on the realme 10 under 50% brightness and 50% volume, and the device blacked out after 16 hours and 7 minutes.

FINAL WORDS:

The realme 10 has its fair share of good key features offered at a relatively affordable price. This is for those on the hunt for an affordable device but wouldn’t want the essential parts compromised.
