Wiko T10 Review: Winning The Entry-Level Battle?

INTRODUCTION:

It's always a good strategy for neophyte brands to enter the saturated smartphone market in the Philippines with an entry-level offering. It's like a brand telling consumers that these are the features it can bring to the table for a budget-friendly price – what more for a flagship device?

Slowly but surely, the French smartphone brand Wiko is making a buzz among Filipino tech consumers. It has released its initial salvo in the past months, which includes the Wiko T10. Is this smartphone worthy of your attention and purchase? Read on to find out.

DESIGN and BUILD:

Albeit with a plastic build, Wiko put effort into making the Wiko T10 a decent-looking budget device. Its back panel has a lovely geometric design detail with a textured finish that keeps fingerprint marks and smudges at bay. Other things you'll find on its rear part are the Wiko branding and the camera module in a square slate with a camera and a flash placed diagonally.

This smartphone comes in two colors – Emerald Green which has a touch of ombre effect on it, and the minimalist and simple Midnight Black.

Ports

For ports and buttons, you'll get a SIM tray on the left side and the power and control buttons on the opposite side. At the bottom sit the loudspeaker, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB-C port. Other smartphones under the same price point as the Wiko T10 still carry the somewhat outdated MicroUSB port, so it's a plus that this device did not.

There's no fingerprint sensor on the Wiko T10. You'll have to use a PIN, pattern, or password to unlock the device.

Overall, the Wiko T10 has a good grip. While we mentioned earlier that it's mainly built with plastic, it doesn't feel plasticky at all. The device also has just the right size to be used conveniently with one hand.

DISPLAY:

The display of the Wiko T10 has more signs that it's indeed a budget device. It has a water drop notch that conceals its front camera and prominent bezels. However, these things aren't considered caveats as this smartphone flaunts a massive screen – enough for you to conveniently enjoy binge-watching content and multitask.

HD+ Display

Its 6.5-inch display comes in an HD+ resolution with a 60hz refresh rate. Screen colors are impressive, and we liked how the Wiko T10's display is bright enough for outdoor use. Display responsiveness is pretty great, too, and we never once encountered stutters when it came to the screen of the Wiko T10.

PERFORMANCE:

You have two options for the Wiko T10 – a combination of 4GB RAM and 128GB storage or the smaller 2GB RAM + 64GB storage. Under its hood is an Helio A22 processor – an oldie but a goodie. These internals helps the Wiko T10 handle apps simultaneously, although based on experience, it's best to keep only up to three apps running in the background to lessen lags.

Out of the box, the Wiko T10 comes with an Android 11 Go Edition OS. It's simple, plus the best part is the absence of bloatware. If you value a straightforward user experience, then what the Wiko T10 offers in terms of this segment would appeal to you.

Gaming-wise, the Wiko T10 should be used with games that can be enjoyed even with low graphic settings. Keep this in mind, and you'll get by without encountering hiccups.

Given its price tag, it's not surprising to see some performance limitations on the Wiko T10. But this device is still a great choice for those who are looking for a smartphone for essential functions like messaging, scrolling through social media, watching videos, and casual and occasional gaming.

In Antutu, it scored 101,473, which is pretty decent for a quad-core device. However, the benchmark says it is beyond the usual score. In other benchmark apps like 3DMark, we weren't able to finish testing.

CAMERAS:

The Wiko T10 only has two cameras – a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. Its primary camera generally takes good photos. What's pretty evident in the pictures taken by this smartphone is that it somehow lacks color saturation, but this could be easily fixed with a bit of editing.

13MP Rear Camera

The rear camera struggles in night photography just like other smartphones in the entry-level to lower mid-range departments. Shooting modes for the main camera of the Wiko T10 include Photo, Beauty, Panorama, Time-lapse, Night, Professional, and Video. It also has AI and geo-tagging.

Self-portraits with the Wiko T10's front camera are so-so. Selfies taken in a well-lit place look pretty decent, while indoor shots appear hazy.

BATTERY:

With a standard 5,000mAh battery, the Wiko T10 can last a whole day of moderate use. Take note, though, that it only supports 10W charging, so it takes a little while for the battery of this device to go back up to 100%. Apart from a USB-C charging port that's more commonly found on higher-end models, the Wiko T10 also has reverse charging. Not bad for a sub-P7k and sub-P5k smartphone.

CONCLUSION:

The Wiko T10 shines in its own right. For only P4,990 (2GB+64GB) and P6,499 (4GB+128GB), this smartphone definitely brings value-for-money features that make it a good buy.
