Samsung has officially unveiled the latest devices in its long-running S-series family; there are three in total, one of which is simply called Samsung Galaxy S23.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 is the most affordable and has the smallest footprint among the trio. The Korean manufacturing giant has indeed improved some hardware and its software compared to the previous generation; however, the changes are more incremental than radical.
The Galaxy S23 still has the same 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support, but it now has higher peak brightness at 1750 nits. Not only that, it is now protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The build quality is pretty much the same, and it is still IP68-certified.
On the inside, it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, which features slightly higher CPU and GPU clock speed than regular SD8 Gen 2. Moreover, it is the first time in a long time that Samsung will only use one type of chipset for their flagship devices, no homegrown Exynos chip this time. For the storage, it is now up to 512GB, albeit the memory is still pegged at 8GB, the same as last year.

Camera-wise, the rear shooters composed of primary 50MP f/1.8, 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide, and 10MP f/2.4 telephoto are still much the same, save for some software tricks. Unlike before, it can only shoot RAW at 12MP resolution; this time around, it can fully utilize the 50MP sensor. One more thing is it can now record 8K video at 30fps, up from 24fps. The front snapper is where the upgrade can be found, it now has a 12MP selfie camera or 2MP up from last year.
The battery also got some improvement, a 3900mAh powerhouse, up 200mAh from the previous model. The connectivity now also supports 6GHz WiFi and Bluetooth 5.3. The Samsung Galaxy S23 is available in Phantom Black, Cream, Green, and Lavender colorways.
Pricing and Availability
The Galaxy S23 costs Php53,990 for the 128GB model and Php57,990 for the 256GB model, while there is no mention yet of the SRP of the 512GB variant. Only the 256GB storage is up for pre-order for the price of 128GB.
