ZTE Reaffirms Sustainability Commitment, Committed to Building Sustainable Green FTTH Networks

During the annual FTTH Conference in Madrid, ZTE Corporation, a global leader in information and communication technology solutions, reaffirmed its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) values. Under the banner of "Building Green FTTH Networks for Sustainable Development," Hans Neff, Senior Director of the ZTE CTO Group, highlighted ZTE's latest technologies, viewpoints, and experiences in developing environmentally friendly FTTH networks.

ZTE has been at the vanguard of advocating for green development, and its dedication to environmental conservation is visible in a number of initiatives. These include product architecture, device packaging materials, critical components, and operations and maintenance (O&M), all with the goal of improving industry sustainability. Neff stressed the importance of incorporating "green" standards across the whole life-cycle of FTTH networks in order to achieve sustainable and socially beneficial network development.

ZTE's product designs are based on green development principles, with an emphasis on smooth progression, high integration, miniaturization, and ease of deployment. ZTE's Any-PON multi-mode solution, the industry's first of its kind, allows flexible configuration to match varied scenarios while significantly lowering the number and types of cards required. ZTE's tiny OLTs also help to save space and energy in equipment rooms.

The company's commitment to sustainability extends to its fixed network customer premises equipment (CPEs), which use 100% recyclable plastic enclosures and packaging boxes created with non-toxic and harmless 100% green plant-based printing. ZTE is also working to improve functionality and reduce power consumption in crucial components. Intelligent management solutions, such as smart fiber detection, enable visualization, manageability, preventive maintenance, and accurate fault location, resulting in lower O&M resource use.

"Energy consumption accounts for a sizable portion of network operators' operating costs." Operators must construct energy-efficient networks to ensure sustainable development and increase competitiveness, according to ZTE. The company is still committed to green development and will work with industry partners to develop eco-friendly solutions for enterprise operations, supply chains, digital infrastructure, and industry empowerment.
