Infinix ZERO 30 5G Review; Zero Is The New Hero
INTRODUCTION:
It's interesting to see the growth of smartphone brand Infinix in a market with tight mobile competition like the Philippines. From introducing entry-level, affordable devices, Infinix has gained momentum enough to explore rolling out higher-end devices. The recent addition to its mid-range lineup is the Infinix ZERO 30 5G. There's a lot to talk about Infinix's latest offering, but let us start with this – there's nothing "zero" with it.

DESIGN and BUILD:
The Infinix ZERO 30 5G could easily pass as one of the prettiest smartphones launched recently. Available in colorways of Golden Hour – a mix of yellow and orange hues, Rome Green – an elegant olive shade on eco-leather, and Fantasy Purple – a combination of iridescent blue and violet, the device is eye-catching in all its angles. Plus, its curved edges emphasizing its unibody design amount to its classy look.

One of the high points of its overall build is its rear camera module, which sits on a glass rear. Veering away from the setup common to most smartphones, Infinix opted to put the Infinix ZERO 30 5G cameras on a square metallic plate, serving as an aesthetic accent to its back cover. Even the positioning of the lenses is quite unique – there are two large cameras aligned vertically, while adjacent to the upper lens is a smaller one with an LED flash below.
Volume Keys and Power Button |
Take note that the Infinix ZERO 30 5G comes mostly in a plastic frame, but this design detail doesn't diminish how premium the device appears considering its price point. At 7.9mm thin, the Infinix ZERO 30 5G is easy to handle.
Speaker, USB-C Port, Microphone, Card Tray |
On the left side of the device are the volume and power buttons. At the top sits a stereo speaker and a secondary microphone, while at the bottom is another set of single stereo speakers, a USB-C port, the primary microphone, and a SIM card tray.

Infinix inculcated the fingerprint sensor of the ZERO 30 5G under its display, which, by the way, does an excellent job in unlocking the device quickly.

DISPLAY:
Complementing the beautiful build of the Infinix ZERO 30 5G is its 6.78-inch FHD+ 3D Curved AMOLED panel in 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution and with a 144Hz refresh rate. On top of the display is a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 panel for added protection. Again, given that this is a lower mid-range device with a more economical price point, this screen caliber is incredible.

The Colors and details on the Infinix ZERO 30 5G's screen are vivid and sharp. Scrolling is pristine, too. Even with a curved display, the viewing angles of the Infinix ZERO 30 5G are impressive.
If we were to nitpick one part of the Infinix ZERO 30 5G's display, it would be the bezel. It appears a bit thick for our liking, but it doesn't really affect the overall screen experience provided by the Infinix ZERO 30 5G.
On the middle top of the smartphone's display is a punch-hole selfie camera, which is always a better option (subjectively) than the outdated waterdrop notch. Moreover, there are two LEDs hidden in the upper left corner of the bezel, which are unnoticeable until you light them up.
PERFORMANCE:
Lags aren't a problem at all with the Infinix ZERO 30 5G, thanks to its MediaTek Dimensity 8020 6nm chipset. Whether you're a power user of multitasking apps or a casual mobile gamer, trust in the Infinix ZERO 30 5G to give you a steady and stutter-free experience.
In terms of memory and storage, the Infinix ZERO 30 5G sits on the higher side of things. It comes with 12GB RAM plus 9GB extended RAM and a base storage of 256GB. However, that's all to it. The device lacks an allocated slot for microSD, so hardware-supported storage expansion isn't possible. But hey, that's okay, we've seen far more expensive devices that also have no storage expansion with lesser internal memory.

Out of the box, the Infinix ZERO 30 5G runs on an Android 13 with Infinix's XOS 13 on top. The features of Infinix's operating system are similar to other brands under the Transsion group. A right swipe from the homescreen gives you the app drawer, while a swipe to the left reveals the recently used apps. Toggling from the top summons the notification panel.
Another thing that the Infinix ZERO 30 5G shares with most smartphones in terms of the operating system is the presence of bloatware, which are mostly third-party apps that are a duplicate of some widely used applications.
Sadly, software support also comes limited with the Infinix ZERO 5G because, as of this writing, the brand made it known that there'll be only one major update, Android 14, and two years of security updates.

CAMERA:
It's fitting for the Infinix ZERO 5G to be the brand's first camera-centric smartphone because of how good its cameras are. On paper, the smartphone comes with a 108-megapixel F1.75 PDAF primary lens with optical image stabilization, a 13-megapixel F2.2 120-degree ultrawide camera, and a 2-megapixel F2.4 macro camera.
108MP Triple Camera with Quad-LED Flash |
The camera performance of the Infinix ZERO 5G covers the essentials. Under well-lit environments, photos appear full of life with vibrant colors and distinguishable details. One thing we noticed is that the ultrawide module provides more saturated colors than the main 108MP sensor.
50MP Front Camera with Dual-LED Flash |
Compared to other smartphones we've tested, the Infinix ZERO 5G is better in terms of night photography, an evidence that its Super Night Mode actually works and is not just a faux feature. Images taken at night are decently wary of noise.
Selfies with the Infinix ZERO 30 5G are awesome, too. Portraits look natural as the phone captures the natural skin color while providing a seamless differentiation between the main subject and the background. This is not surprising, especially with the 50-megapixel front camera of the Infinix ZERO 30 5G.

Supporting 4K video recording @ 60fps, the Infinix ZERO 30 5G could very well be your vlogging camera. What's even more impressive is that both the front and rear cameras are capable of this. Take note that this feature is rare among affordable mid-range, even in flagship smartphones. That takes the Infinix ZERO 30 5G on a different level when it comes to mobile videography. Apart from the usual shooting modes, Infinix loaded the ZERO 30 5G with special modes and filters to make shooting video content easier for users.
BATTERY:
With a 5,000mAh battery supporting 68W Super Charge, the battery department is another hit for the Infinix ZERO 5G. We were able to use it on moderate to heavy levels – switching from reading and answering emails, scrolling on social media apps, watching Netflix and Disney+, taking photos and videos, and playing games – and the device was able to withstand almost a full day. When the smartphone notified us that it needed recharging, we didn't have to wait for long before it got back to 100% again. Specifically, it only took 49 minutes to be fully charged.
CONCLUSION:
With all that said, it's safe to say that the Infinix ZERO 30 5G is in a league of its own. For a price of Php14,999 in exchange for all those features, it's one of the best buys there is currently in the local smartphone scene.
