The two organizations have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to work together better to fight hacking. As GCash's goal of "Finance for All" suggests, this partnership brings together the skills of GCash and CICC to speed up digitization efforts and strengthen cybersecurity.

Important people, like Ivan John Uy, Secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), were at the signing of the MOA. He made it clear that the partnership between GCash and CICC, which is a DICT subsidiary, is a proactive way to protect Filipinos from online threats.

In his words, "This partnership sends cybercriminals a loud and clear message that we will not give up on our search for justice." Our goal is to protect the public's money, and we will never stop looking for and prosecuting people who want to do them harm.

Undersecretary of the CICC Alexander Ramos, retired Supreme Court Justice Andres Reyes, Jr., and important GCash representatives Winsley Bangit, Atty. Maria Corazon Alvarez-Adriano, and Atty. Gilbert A. Escoto were all there to sign.

Undersecretary Ramos asked people who have been scammed online to report it right away to GCash and CICC. This would start a quick reaction system that could help stop more people from becoming victims.

Because it keeps working with the government, GCash has been able to stop over 4 million fake accounts, 810 phishing sites, and 45,000 damaging social media posts and accounts just in 2023.

Winsley Bangit, who is in charge of new businesses, corporate affairs, and sustainability at GCash, said that this alliance is a big part of making the internet better for Filipinos. "We take pride in standing alongside CICC in our mutual mission of building a safer, more equitable society," he said.

In her closing remarks, Atty. Alvarez-Adriano stressed how important it is for the public sector to work together with digital tools. "Backed by institutions like CICC, GCash is perfectly positioned to cultivate a state-of-the-art, robust, and inclusive financial system that will fuel the nation's economic prosperity," she stated.
