"Fragments", a solo exhibition created in partnership with Cacnio, a groundbreaking digital and motion graphics artist, took center stage at the museum. The exhibit leveraged the advanced display technology of LG OLED to recapture Earth's narrative. The focus was on the incredible geological and ecological richness of the Philippines, tracing its journey from volcanic origins to its current terrain and the enduring spirit of its people.
The month-long exhibition, housed in the Ayala Reception Hall, invited visitors to delve into the nation's vibrant biological history. The exhibition was brought to life through three digital pieces: “Where Fire Begins,” “Stories in Stone,” and “What Breaks, Flows”, all displayed on LG OLED AI TVs. Cacnio's works, based on mathematical formulas, created a dynamic visual experience, blending precision with emotional depth and mirroring the geological and cultural evolution of the Philippines.
Cacnio expressed his pride in being one of the few artists to use LG OLED for art, joining the ranks of global artists like Refik Anadol and Steve Harrington. Through LGOLEDArt.com, LG continues to foster digital creativity, offering OLED as a canvas for artistic expression and heralding a new era of immersive media art.
Following the launch of the digital art pieces, LG reiterated its commitment to the preservation and celebration of Filipino culture with a donation of over ₱500,000 worth of display technology, including LG StanbyME units and monitors, to the National Museum of Natural History. This donation enhances the museum experience, merging advanced technology with the rich culture and natural history of the Philippines.
LG's commitment to blending technology, education, and cultural appreciation is evident in its ongoing support for the National Museum of Fine Arts and its recent donation to the National Museum of Natural History. This effort underlines LG’s commitment to respecting the past while embracing the future, reinforcing its position as the world’s No. 1 OLED TV brand for 12 consecutive years.
Mr. Nakhyun Seong, Managing Director of LG Philippines, underscored the importance of the celebration and the robust partnership between LG and the National Museum of the Philippines. He pointed out the significance of commemorating the 127th anniversary of Philippine Independence at the National Museum of Natural History, surrounded by the country's rich biodiversity.
Mr. Seong lauded the creative collaboration with Cacnio, whose art beautifully amalgamates nature, technology, art, and geology. He drew attention to LG's 12-year milestone as the world's No. 1 OLED TV brand, promising that LG, as a global technology leader, will continue to enhance Filipino lives by integrating global technology with local culture, promoting nation-building, and preserving the Philippines' rich natural heritage and biodiversity.
Mr. Yongwoo Park, LG’s Product Director for Media Solutions, introduced LG’s vision of Affectionate Intelligence—a form of AI that thoughtfully and personally adapts to human needs. He highlighted how LG’s AI-powered OLED TVs offer experiences that are warm, personal, and intuitive.
Director-General Jeremy Barns, CESO III of the National Museum of the Philippines, expressed deep gratitude for LG Philippines’ generous donation. He described the partnership as a milestone in a long-standing collaboration that has redefined the concept of a museum in the 21st century.
Barns acknowledged the evolving role of museums in today’s technologically advanced world, emphasizing the need for dynamic, engaging, and responsive exhibits. He added that the donation empowers the National Museum to bring Filipino heritage and stories to life in a more engaging way. He also pointed out that the new technologies will revolutionize the visitor experience, shifting from static displays to immersive storytelling, and from passive learning to active exploration.
Barns concluded by expressing his gratitude to LG Philippines, not only for the material support but for sharing the belief that innovation must serve education, access, and cultural preservation. He stated that the donation would broaden the museum’s ability to deliver public programs that are more inclusive, engaging, and meaningful to a wider audience.
