PSA, DICT, and GCash Spearhead National ID eVerify Integration to Elevate Financial Inclusion and Digitalization

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) have teamed up with GCash, the company that runs mobile wallets, to test the National ID eVerify platform. This is a big step toward making financial inclusion and the digitalization agenda a reality.

This important project by the PSA and DICT is meant to give businesses and government bodies a safe and quick way to confirm the identities of their clients. The platform will make it easier for financial institutions like GCash to do know-your-customer (KYC) checks by giving them a reliable verification method and speeding up the account setup process.

The National ID eVerify platform is very important for stopping document fraud and making sure that civil registry documents are real. This will improve the trustworthiness of documents given by the PSA.

Ren-Ren Reyes, president and CEO of G-Xchange, Inc., the company that makes GCash, stressed how committed they are to safety and trust. He said, "The National ID lets us make sure that all of our users are real." We are better able to help more Filipinos get access to money now that our financial systems are safer.

Reyes was happy about the ongoing relationship between PSA and DICT, which helps users and is in line with the government's plan to become more digital. He talked about how many people use PhilIDs and ePhilIDs, which are given by the PSA's Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), to verify their GCash accounts.

Dennis Mapa, Undersecretary, National Statistician, and Civil Registrar General of the PSA, said again that the agency is still committed to signing up all Filipinos for the National ID system. Undersecretary for e-Government at the DICT, David Almirol Jr., said that GCash's participation in the field tests would make the systems more efficient and quick to respond.

Almirol Jr. said, "The National eVerify will make it easier and better for businesses and the government to do business with each other, which will lead to better services for the Filipino people." This means that Filipinos can handle their paperwork and use private and public services without leaving their homes.

Frederick D. Go, who is Secretary and Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs (SAPIEA), called the project a source of hope and proof of how powerful working together can be. He was positive about the strategic partnership between PSA, DICT, and GCash, which aims to help the country's weaker areas.

At the moment, GCash is working closely with PSA and DICT to make sure that the eVerify technology is successfully integrated.
