| LG AC Production Slashes Plastic and Carbon Emissions |
Key Value Proposition & Tech Specs:
- Carbon Footprint Reduction: The production emissions for a single unit are now confirmed by TÜV Rheinland to be reduced to 14.85 kg of CO₂ equivalents.
- Plastic Reduction: A core innovation is the switch from Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) to Polypropylene (PP), a material with a lower carbon footprint. This, combined with a novel production method, cuts plastic use by approximately 900 grams per unit.
- Novel Production Method: LG employs foaming injection molding, which injects nitrogen gas to create bubbles in the material, directly reducing the required volume of plastic.
- Projected Annual Impact: These combined technical enhancements are projected to decrease annual plastic consumption by 270 tons and CO₂ equivalent carbon emissions by over 4,400 tons.

User-Centric Application:
LG has already implemented the foaming injection molding technique for its multi-directional AC units since June and plans a progressive expansion to other domestic and professional models. This proactive application of eco-conscious engineering underscores LG's commitment to delivering high-efficiency appliances with minimal environmental impact.
Broader ESG Strategy:
This innovation is part of LG’s aggressive push for carbon neutrality, targeting a 54.6% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 relative to 2017 levels. The strategy includes integrating high-efficiency machinery and transitioning to renewable energy sources, leveraging its exclusive Core Tech to manufacture its next-generation products.
As stated by Bae Cheung-hyun, head of the System Air Conditioners Business at the LG ES Company, "LG is committed to harnessing innovative technologies to produce eco-friendly air conditioners for a greener planet." This demonstrates a clear corporate directive to integrate sustainability at the product development level.
